A/N;   *As I write this story, I'm in Moncton, ( southern New-Brunswick) but I think about these men and women in Belledune ( northern New-Brunswick) trying to stop the construction of a toxic waste incinerator in their village. Since the government authorized it, it's pretty hard to stop.

Thinking about that, I wonder how could some world leaders sell the lives and health of their co-citizens like that. *

Another day in Thunderbird five, listening to mankind's misery and trying to figure out what I can do about it.

I have cut the gravity generator. I just don't want to feel like anything is like on Earth right now. Earth, home, it's right out there. Bright and beautiful in space like a diamond in a black velvet box. I've searched the universe far and wide to find a planet like that, nor me nor anyone else have found a second Earth. It's the only Earth we have, but still, it's being wasted.

It's covered with an atmosphere that has oxygen provided by trees, but forests are disappearing now. In fact they don't cut trees now; Its too slow. They burn entire forests!

Is just like I was cutting the oxygen supply of Thunderbird Five.

They call it the blue planet because two thirds of it is covered with water. Long ago, these vast seas and oceans were filled with life but these oceans have been drained out of life and filled of poison.

For more than a century and a half, man has made stories of aliens trying to destroy the Earth. Day after day, I realize that we don't need the aliens to do the job after all.

Do you know what messages I get on these radios all around me? Distress calls. Distress calls of innocent peoples trapped in mudslides, floods, forests fires and all sorts of natural disasters. We say Mother Nature creates these things, but does she?

If we can play it hard on Earth, it can go both ways!

When I don't hear about * natural * disasters, it's sabotage or people deliberately trying to kill other people.

You all know how can a human being be a monster sometimes. History is full of examples like that and it just seems to get worse and worse as years goes by. Just 120 years ago; billions of peoples killed in concentration camps. Why? Just because they were Jews. Later; people expelled from their homes in Palestine. Why? Just because they lived there without being Jews. Not that long ago; in 2001, hundreds of people killed in New-York. Why? Just because they were there.  Later on; thousands of civilians bombed. Why? Because they worshiped the same god as the handful of madmen that attacked New-York did.

All that has became almost a normal thing for me.  Every single day I hear stories about a man trying to trap children in a mine to steal secret plans. Stories about someone trying to destroy a building with 20 000 peoples in it. Stories about someone trying to gas  thousands of peoples in a subway.

Of course, there's nothing International Rescue wont' do to save a human life but sometimes, it's so damn hard to find a reason to keep on risking your own life to save someone else's. Especially when you know that for every life-saving action that you take, there's like 10 or 20 other people doing life-threatening actions.
