Title: Despair

Disclaimer: I have no claim to anything CSI. I get nothing from this but happiness from taking the G/S ship farther than those who do own CSI.
Despair.
It came with the territory of being in love with a man like Gil Grissom. He had dropped hints about the age difference and him being her supervisor, but Sara wasn't stupid. She knew the real reason he had kept his distance, even if he wouldn't admit it to her.
The truth was he was in love with her. She had realized that a few days ago. It was in the look he had given her after coming out of the house in which Debbie Martin was brutally murdered. That had said it all really.
His eyes had desperately sought out her form, and when they found it they pierced through to her soul needing to know it was truly her standing there. She was alive and his world had not really ended behind him on that bathroom floor.
Then she had heard his speech to the murderer of her mirror image; his confession of love. She had never heard him speak with such passion before, and thought it a shame that it was wasted on a man like Dr. Lurie.
They say that sometimes love is not enough. Well, in this case it was too much. She had heard it and seen it in his eyes.
He couldn't possibly allow a relationship that he knew would consume him. She would either leave because her love was not as great for him, or she would be taken away. Either way, he knew without question that he could not stand that loss.
But, Sara would not give up. She wasn't built that way. She would stay through his continued denials and play this out to the end. She would stay and prove to him that even when he treated her poorly, she would not leave him. She was devoted to Gil Grissom and she would not give up on him.
She still had hope, a hope that he had given her with that declaration. If she lost hope she might as well have been the one on that bathroom floor.
She would endure all the pain and rejection even if all she received in return was a glimpse into what could have been. It would still be worth knowing that at least she never gave up on true love. She would not give up on the one thing that she knew to be right.
End... perhaps it will need a sequel a little later though, just to quench my own G/S needs.
