Down The Path and Through The Trees
Before I begin, it should be noted that this is the first thing I've ever
submitted, so be gentle. I probably shouldn't do poetry about Alice since
I can't rhyme at all, but I guess it's too late to turn back now. Here
goes.........
Down the path and through the trees,
You stop to catch your breath
The cramped legs send you down to your knees
You taste the smell of death
You try to escape, you try to hide,
But you cannot run
But you can't, she knows your inside
And she wants to have a little fun
Tackle the cards, watch them spin,
Your great, man, you're a killer
Punch the Cheshire's ugly grin
And smoke with the caterpillar
Back to life, where everything's fine
It seemed to be a dream
Then why is it you can't forget
And you continue to scream
You take the bus to the park
Everything's normal again
But somehow I get the feeling that
This is not the end
It's been five years since that fateful day
The day that sparked this rhyme
I want to stay in wonderland
And I'm not coming back this time
