What Mattered Most

Chapter 1: The note

It was a peaceful morning in Atlantis. Merchants were selling their

products, fishers were fishing, and the Heart of Atlantis was hovering

over the great city. Milo Thatch walked out of the palace on his way to

the library. He liked reading about Atlantis' past and he also looks for

good books that can help him teach his wife, Kida, and the rest of

Atlantis how to read and write their own language.

When Milo reached the library, he went to his favorite reading spot,

only to find that someone got there first.

"Good morning, Milo."

"Good morning to you, too, Kida," Milo replied.

Milo noticed she was still trying to finish reading the Shepard's

Journal, the book written by a man, Aziz, which got Milo and the

Ulysses crew to Atlantis. "You seem a little too cheerful today. What's

going on?" Milo asked as he took a seat next to her. "It is nothing. I

just feel this will be a good day," Kida sorta lied.

Actually, today was Milo's birthday and Kida had found something

to show him. Even though it was in the outer-most ring, there was a small

place full of things from Atlantis' past. Problem was, it was a little

far of, and a flock of haywoods and a herd of bomonts were inbetween.

"Milo, could you come with me today to explore the city? I want to

show you something." "Sure. Wha-." Milo was interrupted by a loud horn.

As the horn wailed, Milo and Kida quickly looked at each other and got

out of their seats and were running out of the library. That horn was to

say that people are either at the boundry or are in Atlantis and both of

them didn't know who was coming, even though they had an idea who.

Coming to Atlantis on a boat called The Armada was their friends.

The boat came to the docks and they all got off. Vinnie was the first

to greet the two. "Hey, thought we'd ah come and ah visit ya." "Yeah,

wanted a place to visit and thought I'd come here and visit you two."

Audrey added. "Also came to wish you a happy birthday and give you this

note from Chakashi." came a voice from the boat, which Milo reconized to

be Mr. Whitmore."Chakashi?" Milo and Kida said together. "Yes, Chakashi.

He said somethin' 'bout both of you comin' to that place where he dropped

us off at. He said something about ancient guardians, too." Dr. Sweet

explained. "Then I guess we should be going." Kida said.

So while Milo and Kida where getting ready to go, the rest of the

team was exploring the city. "Ya know, I'm thinking of moving here and

planting my flower shop here, too." Vinnie proclaimed after politely

turning down a fresh fish offer. "As tempting as it is, I'm not gonna

move for awhile." Audrey added. "Ready to go?" Sweet asked as he saw

Milo and Kida approching. "Yup. We just have to wait until Mole gets

back." As if on cue, Mole came running up. He smelled like he was rolling

in dirt. "Shall we be goeeng?" Then they jumped in the boat and set off

for the States.
