Nuclear Alert – Chapter 2
Green Lantern finds a huge, metal structure with the red hammer and sickle painted on it.
"Oh no… Communists. Flash, call Batman. "
"I'm on my way!"
As the Flash goes to get Batman, Green Lantern finds a door. He opens it and finds another large nuclear missile, this time ready for launch.
"Oh no! How will I defuse this?" he says as he watches a rather primitive computer that shows the years, months, days, hours and minutes left until launch.
As he watches the screen that shows
"0 years, 0 months, 0 days, 15 hours, 30 minutes",
Batman and Flash arrive.
"Batman, what do you think this is?"
"It's a nuclear silo."
"And how do you explain the communist emblem?"
"Romania was under communist control until 1989. This must be the former dictator's last weapon. He will surely use it to destroy Romania, as he must have known he will be killed. And most likely he will also destroy the western countries."
"So we must defuse these things."
"Yes we must."
"And how do you suppose we defuse them in 15 hours?"
"Flash, can you open all the missiles' guiding system compartment and se if they are all the same?"
"Yes, I will, Batman. I'm on my way."
Flash runs around the top of each missile in the silo.
"They're all the same."
"Good. I'll go and investigate them to see what does one need to defuse them."
Batman goes to a missile and starts examining its guiding system. As he examines it, he is suddenly shocked by electricity and falls. Green Lantern catches him with some energy and puts him down.
"Great. Now we've lost the best mind we have. At least he's not dead! And we can't take these missiles into space with the Javelin. If we do that, they'll just explode."
"GL, look how much time we have! Ten hours!"
"It looks like we have to defuse them. And we must get it right the first time we try!"
Green Lantern raises himself to the top of the missile and starts working on the guiding system with his power ring. He then looks at the circuitry.
"You know, I think that the batteries are not yet fully charged, so we could unplug them from the recharger and use all the energy they've got. The recharger is computer controlled.
"Nice idea." said Flash.
Green Lantern tries to find something that eats a lot of energy.
