SUMMARY: This is a songfic on how Draco regrets losing Hermione.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I found this fic while I was fixing my room, so you can see that this is almost a year old already. I only posted it now because I just found it recently. I know the song is quite old already, but still, hope you enjoy it. :D I'd also like to apologize for grammatical and lyrics errors you will find here. Please correct me if ever. And please do review! It's been a long time since I wrote fics, and I guess I can say I'm just warming up a bit.

DISCLAIMER: I do not own any of the characters in this fic for they belong to the genius that is JKRowling. I also do not own the song for it's by Marc Dorsey. All I take pride in is the plot of this fic. Enjoy. ;D

I wake up to shadows, touching your pillow
Looking for a trace of your smile
And that's when it hit me, you're no longer with me
In fact it's been quite a while

Draco Malfoy sat up in bed. He took a picture from underneath his pillow and looked at it longingly. It was a picture of Hermione Granger, her hair flying in the wind, her brown eyes sparkling. It was developed in Muggle London, so the picture wasn't moving. Draco wouldn't have it any other way.

"Stupid!" said Draco, slapping himself as he got up from his bed and sat by the window. "You had to go and let your pride take over, did you?"

Since I sat here drinking coffee as you sipped your tea
And you swore you'd always love and always care for me
And even though there's no more us to save
It's you I crave

Draco looked up at the starless night sky and sighed. So very un-Malfoy-ish. But nothing was Malfoy-ish since Hermione came into the picture.

The sky looked like an endlessly empty abyss -- much like Draco himself. Endlessly empty. Nothing felt right.

Draco reflected on how much his life had changed since Hermione came. Hermione made him see his good side. She made him realize that his father was nothing but scum. Hermione loved and trusted him with all her heart, like no one else. And most of all, Hermione made him realize that it was possible to love someone even more than yourself. Everything was perfect whenever Hermione was there. it was sheer heaven.

"And I had to screw it up. I had to ruin it all."

I crave your touch I crave your lips
I miss so much the excitement of your kiss
And since you're gone my heart won't behave
It's your love that I still crave

"I miss you so much Hermione," whispered Draco into the darkness.

It may look like I'm happy but deep down below me
You know that I'm not doing so well
I heard you've been dating and though I've been waiting
How I found you and no one else

Draco closed his eyes and recalled his last encounter with Hermione. He had run into Hermione and Harry last week in the Leaky Cauldron.

"Oh hey Draco, fancy meeting you here," Hermione had said, her smile radiating her face. She was just as beautiful as when they left Hogwarts five years ago. it was the picture of perfection - the only thing was, Draco's dream girl was arm-in-arm with Harry Potter.

"Hello," Draco had replied politely, smiling, trying to mask the pain he felt. "Hey Po-Harry."

"Hi. Say Draco," Harry had begun, extending his free hand to give Draco a white envelope, "we're inviting you to our wedding next week. I know it's kind of short notice, but, well, we're really hoping you can come."

Sure," Draco had replied shortly. He didn't even glance at the envelope which he quickly placed in his robe pocket. "I'm sorry but I have to go now."

"We'll see you at the wedding, OK?" Hermione called after him.

And just the thought of never waking up with you again Always turns me inside out how could we let it in And even though there's no more us to save It's you I crave

Draco opened his eyes and pulled open the side table drawer. He drew out the wedding invitation and read it for the first time.

We, Harry James Potter and Hermione Granger, cordially invite you to witness our wedding and take part in this glorious event. This will be on the twenty-seventh of August, two thousand and three, ten o'clock in the morning at Saint Paul's Cathedral.

It was only then that Draco realized that time was truly running out. The love of his life was going to be married to his ex-archenemy in a matter of nine hours. And he decided it was time for the ultimate decision that would change his life -- he was going to Harry and Hermione's wedding.

I crave your touch I crave your lips
I miss so much the excitement of your kiss
And since you're gone my heart won't behave
It's your love that I still crave

11:00am -- Great Hall, Hogwarts
Harry and Hermione were seated at the Head Table, both looking exceptionally radiant. Harry's jet-black hair was miraculously tidily piled on top of his head. He was wearing contacts, not glasses, which illuminated his bright green eyes even more. His tuxedo made him look more handsome than ever. Hermione was glowing in her white strapless gown, her brown hair done in a French twist. Draco couldn't peel his eyes off of her since the wedding ceremonies, and he couldn't help imagining what could be if he were in Harry's place instead. He knew it would be sheer heaven to have Hermione look at him that way, to have Hermione gingerly hold his hand, to have Hermione passionately press her lips against his, to have Hermione all to himself -- to be Hermione's husband.

And now Potter gets all of those, he thought bitterly. Potter wins -- again.

I should've known I should've seen
Coz you were always there inside my every dream

"Any messages for the newly-weds?" asked Ron Weasley.

Draco stood up, and in an instant the entire hall was silenced. They seemed to think that Draco was about to holler something foul to ruin the reception because some of them, Ron in particular, drew out their wands with a menacing look towards Draco on their faces.

"Um..." stammered Draco. Again, ever un-Malfoy-ish. Malfoys never stammered. But then he was in a jam What was he supposed to say? Hermione, divorce that freak right now and let's get married!? Of course he couldn't say that!

"First of all, I'd like to thank you both for inviting me to your wedding. Harry, I want you to know that Hermione's all yours and I would never dream of trying to get her from you.

"Hermione, I want you know that after all these years, I've never loved anyone but you. You made my life complete. And now that I'm seeing you happy, I guess I can move on...in a way." With that, Draco dashed out of the Great Hall, but then stopped abruptly as he got the exit.

"Harry, take care of Hermione. 'Cos if you make her cry, I'll come after you. I'll be your worst nightmare." And Draco left the Hogwarts castle wordlessly, tears streaming down his face.

I crave your touch I crave your lips
I miss so much the excitement of your kiss
And since you're gone my heart won't behave
It's your love that I still crave

AUTHOR'S NOTE: OK, so I know this is not my best fic. It may even be my worst. But still please do review. Ciao!
