Sail Away

There was a time when all was well,

When joy filled mind and heart,

But that world has long since fell

And now you must depart.

I will not say good-bye,

For the words bring too much pain,

I will not allow myself to cry,

For my tears will be the rain.

Do as I have told

Sail away to an enchanted land,

Where the rays of sun shine gold,

And soft and warm is the sand.

Don't think of what you leave behind,

Just get on a ship and go.

Clear the thought of darkness from your mind

And let me face the foe.

Forget that which holds you here,

Do not linger, do not stay.

Forget all the grief and fear,

Leave, and sail away.

Think of our friendship when you go

And depart into the open sea.

Understand this must be so,

But promise you won't forget me.

The time has come to bitter end,

We can no longer be together.

My heart shall be with you my friend,

Yet this is the fate we must endeavor.
