Meanwhile, the rest of the Newsies were pretty much just mingling among
themselves, checking out the weird appliances around the room, some even
sneaking up the stairs to take a peek around.
Jack and Les were sitting together on the stairs, "This isn't very fun," said Les, shrugging and putting his head in his hands.
"Yeah your right," said Jack, "I want to go back, there's nothing here for me," he said, "So, kiddo, you want to head back?"
"Yeah!" said Les, happier than he ever was before, "I miss me mom and I'm tired again!" /damn narcolepsy/ he said to himself.
"Alright guys," Jack stood up, his leadership shining trough, "Lets go, we've got pape's to sell! New York needs us!"
Most of the Newsies looked crushed, worse of all were Dave, Crutchy, Race, Skittery and Itey. They had finally found someone, like they wouldn't in the storyline.
"I mean it guys, lets cheese it!" he yelled out.
The boys began to crowd around the T.V., while Sarah rewound her DVD to the beginning. She pressed pause as her eyes were watering. She finally had gotten to meet David, and now he had to go. Life isn't fair. "Press play whenever you want to go. I can't do it" she told them.
After minutes of searching the Newsies finally found the play button, and one by one they began to disappear back into the screen, until the only ones left were Dave, Crutchy, Race, Skitts, and Itey.
"Heya Chewy, I really had a great time!" Crutchy said, he kissed Kaylee on the cheek, and limped toward the T.V., before waving goodbye, and jumping back into the screen. Kaylee solemnly walked over to her sleeping bag, and lay down, beginning to cry. /All good things come to an end/ she told herself over and over again, /all good things come to an end/.
Race was the next to go, "Remember what I taught ya, if anyone ever wants to play craps," he winked at Kathryn, then leaned over to whisper in her ear, "I'll miss you." He then kissed her cheek, and followed the path back into the T.V. Kathryn went over to Kaylee, laying down next to her, and trying not to cry, unsuccessfully.
Then, Itey had to go. "I'll never forget our dance," he told Chelsea, kissing her hand, then looking in her eyes to tell her, "I wont ever forget you, either." He jokingly danced his way over to the T.V. screen, and jumping back in, just like his friends had done.
"Listen," Andrea told Skittery, "try not to be so cranky all the time," Skittery smiled at her, "same to you," he joked. They laughed together, before he leaned over and gave Andrea a soft kiss on her lips, hugging her, and going into the screen, back to 1899.
And finally David. "Listen, Gretch, I--" he looked at her in the eyes, "I don't think I will ever find a girl quite like you," Sarah smiled, and known David would never have the guts, she leaned over and kissed him, never wanting to let go. When she finally did, she told him, "Good luck with college," with tears in her eyes. Then quicker than she could imagine, he was gone
By this time all 5 girls were sobbing, hugging each other, and saying how much they will miss the boys that were everything, and nothing like their dreams. They talked deep into the night about how much fun they had had with /their/ guy, finally coming around to laughter rather than tears.
Any ordinary person would look at this sleepover as a good obsession gone bad, but of course, these girls were /far/ from ordinary. Right then and there they made a promise that, that night would be kept secret. It was probably the most outrageous night of their lives, the most memorable too. They would never tell a soul, they promised, it would be their special memory.
Of course, a week later the whole school knew. After all they were 5 girls with big mouths in a small town. Those people that didn't label them as liars just thought they were crazy. But the girls knew that in the back of everybody's minds, they were just jealous.
