Summary: It's a really bad Valentines Day for Giles, until he receives a Valentine card.
Disclaimer: They don't belong to me, look to Joss.
Notes: This is sometime in the future, were Anya and Giles are married, and Giles is a professor at UC Sunnydale. So very AU.
Another Note: I just started this little fic two days before valentines Day, so I was a little rushed. And this is the first fic I've written in months.
A loud shrilling noise awoke Rupert Giles from his peaceful slumber. He lazily lifted his head up from the comfy bed, only to bolt upright, giving him a hell of a head rush. "Bloody hell!" he rubbed his head.
He got up and immediately stubbed his toe. "Damnit!" he yelled.
He went through his regular morning routine only in half the time. He practical flew down the stairs to the kitchen, to see his wife and daughter at the table.
Anya started to get up from her seat for their daily kiss, "Good mor..."
"Why didn't you wake me up!" her husband hissed, while fumbling with his tie.
"Well, you looked so sweet. I didn't want to wake you up."
"Anya," Giles said shuffling papers into his briefcase, "how many times have I told you not to do that? If I'm late one more time, I'm fired for sure."
"Well Happy Valentines Day to you," she pouted, sitting back down to her breakfast.
"Daddy! Look!" his daughter tugged on her father's pant leg. He hadn't even noticed her there before.
"Elli, I haven't got the time now. Go get ready for school," he said not even looking down at her and rushing out of the room, "Where are my keys," he yelled from the living room.
"I don't know, try up somewhere very unpleasant," Anya muttered.
"What?" he yelled back.
"Try where you last left them," she called back.
Soon he came rushing back holding them up, "Here they are." He reached for his briefcase and closed it shut, not noticing the paper that didn't belong there. "Alright, I'm off," he gave a quick kiss to his wife and daughter and left without another word.
After the horrible morning and the worst traffic hold up from hell, the day didn't get any better for Giles. After being late for another class, Giles had to listen to his boss' rumblings, and hoping not to get fired. On top of all that, a nice big pile of essays to grade.
Giles sat at his desk getting ready to start the long road ahead of grading. He snapped open his briefcase, getting his finger caught. "Ow!" he immediately stuck his finger in his mouth, dulling the pain a bit.
He sighed and opened his case all the way, to find a construction paper, folded in half, with the words Happy Valentines Day handwritten, with a heart drawn around it. He opened the folded paper curiously and smiled at his little daughter's handwriting.
'Dear daddy I love you. You are the best daddy ever. Thank you for working and making lots of money. I love you.
Elli'
Smiling to himself Giles put the card into his pocket; grabbed his briefcase; and left for home. Screw the papers, it was going to be a long weekend anyway.

Giles opened the door to his home slowly. He was early and wanted to surprise his 'girls'. Giles set his bag and coat down. No one seemed to be home, until he heard laughter from one of the bedrooms upstairs. He made his way up to see his wife reading her daughter a Curious George book.
Leaning against the frame of the door, Giles watched. "Then Curious George met a rabb..." Anya immediately snapped the book shut.
"Then what happened, mommy?"
"Um," her mother thought.
"Curious George and the rabb... bin, Robin went out for ice cream adn lived happily ever after," Giles intervened.
"Daddy!" Elli ran to him, in which he opened his arms to her.
Anya was soon after her. "Happy Valentines Day," he hugged her. "I'm sorry." he whispered.
"Did you get my card?" Elli asked enthusiastically.
"I sure did," he said. "And I have a surprise for you. Both of you," he added. "It's downstairs." When they all gathered in the living room Giles handed them their gifts."For you," he said handing a jewelry box to his wife.
"Oh, Rupert!" she exclaimed, hugging him.
"Open it." he stated. She opened the little black box to reveal diamond earrings.
"I love it," she hugged him again.
"Daddy!" their daughter called attention.
"Don't worry, darling, I didn't forget about you." he reached into his bag and retrieved what seemed like a single red rose, but was a chocolate rose with red wrapping around it.
"Yay!" she squealed, snatching it and running off.
"You know she's only going to get it all over her face," Anya pointed out still in her husbands arms.
"We'll worry about that later," he said bending his head to meet her lips in a deep kiss.
"Hmm," she moaned when they pulled apart.
"Tonight." he said.
"Tonight what?" she asked.
"Tonight, I'm taking you both out to dinner."
"I thought we were going to drop Elli at Willow's and Tara'a and... you know.... play mistress and the naughty boy."
Giles blushed, still not used to Anya's openness of their sex life, even though they were in the privacy in their own home.
"We can do that tomorrow," he reassured her. "But it won't be Valentines Day tomorrow. It'll defeat the whole purpose. It..."
"Dear," Giles stopped her mid babble, "We can do that tomorrow."
"But it wouldn't be as romantic."
"Dear, with you every night is a romantic night. And I promise you," his voice grew deeper, "I'll make it up in every way possible." he smiled and she smiled back.
"You naughty boy."
"I love you," he said softly, sealing it with a kiss.
