Well, hey everyone. I'm going to say this right now – this is a suicide fic. It's based relatively on what happened to me – what happened to Mai happened to me, and what Mai felt, I felt.
I had a few reasons to write this… firstly, I had some demons to exorcise. Secondly, I have two people to tribute it to. Niffer, what you always say to me helps me so much! Especially that one-day we talked about… you know. Thank you so much! And Baz… actually, I wrote this right after I told you those two words in Japanese and you told me that really long one, jeezum… but thanks for everything, I printed off that e-mail you sent me! Thank you two so much for being my Ryous! *hugs tightly*
And thirdly, I hope you really understand that a conversation similar to this happened before… twice! So here it is… remember, there is suicide mention, just warning you… enjoy. Sorry if I made Bakura too OOC.
*~*~*
A figure ran to the edge of the forest, looking behind herself to make sure no one was following. Once she saw she was alone, she ran faster.
Sometimes
Slowly
Time brings revelation
As she ran through the forest, she didn't care that her arms and legs were being torn to shreds. She just wanted to get away from those… people.
They had harmed her once; they shan't do it again.
Waiting
Softly
For someone to believe
As her friend ran after her, calling her name, she ran away from him too, oblivious from the love he wished to show her.
Mai tripped over a tree root and fell to the ground, the rain beating upon her body and soaking it through. She lay in wait, hoping for the pain to cease, but she knew it was no use. It would always be there, unless she did the unthinkable and committed suicide.
As she layed in the fetal position, softly crying, her friend walked up and layed his hand on her lower back, and not knowing what to do, bent down and pulled her into a gentle hug, softly kissing the top of her head. "Let's get you inside, please," he whispered.
She violently shook her head. "N-no…" she refused. "They don't like me there! No one does!"
Bakura hung his head in inevitable defeat, but then slowly rose it, and idea forming. "Mai… You are someone special. To me, you're something, and to someone you're everything. Keep that thought in your heart always; always know that I will always care for you, even if we lose touch. I could do you no greater honour than to call you my friend, but I call you it readily… watashimomata aishiteru, nakama no boku."
Wiping her tears away, she looked up at Bakura. "Hontou ni?"
He nodded and smiled as the rain ceased and turned to snow. "Yeah."
As the two headed into his warm cabin and into his bedroom, crawling into the warm blankets on meeting in the middle, hugging each other (gotta love that body warmth).
As the girl's eyes started to droop, the boy gently kissed her forehead and whispered, "Good night, little one," as he closed his eyes.
Lay your head down
And sleep on my shoulder
Lay your head down
And start a new dream
But the girl stayed wide-awake, her fingers coming up and brushing where the boy's lips had met. She looked up and heard heavy breathing, and leaning up, she hesitantly pressed her lips to his and sighed when a familiar wave of pleasure washed over her.
And for tonight
The moment is over
Drift in a lullaby
Here where the stars reside
His eyes slowly crept open, a smile forming on his lips as he, with a solitary finger, lifted her chin and kissed her softly, his arm gently hugging her waist.
Could this night it last forever
Every moment held together
As if in a perfect trance
And such a thing could be.
