Chapter Three:

The Return of a Legend

"Liar."

"Am not."

"Are too.  This is Tetsusaiga." Inuyasha growled, standing to show her his powerful sword.

She struggled to her feet and drew her sword to match it against his.  Hers was slightly larger, but there was no doubt the two swords were nearly identical.  Inuyasha glowered at Kiara as he replaced his sword back in its scabbard at his belt.

A feeble smirk came to her lips as she also replaced her sword in its scabbard.  "You see; I am not a liar. But believe what you like. I can take care of myself from here.  Thank you both for your help."  She breathed and brushed past the odd boy to move shakily towards the door.  Inuyasha turned about as Kagome stood to object.

"Kiara, wait…"

"Feh!  You can barely walk, let alone defend yourself in that shape.  You'll die before you go far, if not from blood loss or the poison coursing through your veins, then because of some hungry demon. You should at least rest here for a while." Inuyasha growled in annoyance.  She paused by the door as Kagome looked to Inuyasha in quiet surprise.

"I need to help my uncle.  If there's still a chance I can save him…"

Suddenly the door flap opened and she took a step back as a human boy with black hair and indigo eyes wearing violet robes came in, followed closely by another human girl, this one with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes wearing a pink yukata and a long green wrap around her waist.  A black and white catlike demon with two tails sat on her shoulder.  A young fox demon with auburn hair and fur and bright blue eyes bounded in after the pair, and then the three and a half stopped dead as they saw Kiara standing and staring at them.

Her amber eyes moved to the catlike demon with two tails on the woman's shoulder.

"Kirara? Wow, you're a lot older than I thought if you exist way back in this time." Said Kiara vaguely.

The catlike demon mewed and jumped onto her shoulder.  Kiara winced, but smiled as she reached up and pet the small demon feebly.  "You won't have any idea what I'm talking about, but I owe you my life."  She continued absentmindedly, then sighed and closed her eyes as her legs buckled beneath her.  "Damn poisonous gas."  She growled before everything went dark.
