Marissa pulled up at the Cohen residence at exactly 4:45. She parked
her car and ran up to the front door, then ringing the doorbell. A second
later Kirsten opened the door. "Hi Marissa." She said as she opened the
door further, motioning Marissa to come in.
"Hi. So is Ryan ready?"
"I'm not sure. He's in the pool house, why don't you go get him?"
Marissa walked through the kitchen and out the back door and headed toward the pool house. She looked inside, which was pretty easy since it was all glass, and didn't see Ryan. She knocked on the glass door. When Ryan didn't show up a few seconds later she walked into the pool house.
"Ryan?" She said. There was no answer. Marissa sat down on his bed, figuring that he would show up in a few minutes. Only seconds later Ryan walked out from the back only in his boxers.
Marissa quickly stood up and turned away, looking out the window. "I'm so sorry. Kirsten said to go get you, and well...I'm so embarrassed."
"Don't be. Its fine." Marissa turned around as Ryan pulled on a pair of dark jeans then a long sleeved navy blue shirt.
"So lets go." He said as he grabbed a small duffel bag that contained his clothes and other items that he thought he might need that weekend.
"Light packer." Marissa commented.
"What can I say? I'm very low maintenance."
Marissa smiled at Ryan and then opened the door of the pool house and headed to her car.
Ten minutes later they arrived at the school parking lot. As Marissa pulled into a parking space they both noticed that they were the only ones in the whole parking lot.
"Where is everyone?" Marissa asked as she hopped out of the car.
Ryan walked around the car to join Marissa. "I don't know. Do you think they left?"
Marissa checked her watch. "Its only a little after five..."
Ryan sighed. "I guess Mr. Shertite wasn't joking when he said that they would be leaving exactly at five."
Marissa leaned against her car. "Damn it. We are so screwed. Mr. Shertite is going to call Mrs. Joel at the hotel tonight, and when he finds out that we aren't there...I just can't be suspended Ryan. I can't."
"Come on Marissa, you wont get suspended. We have a car. How about we drive to the hotel that they're staying at tonight?"
"Can we do that?" Marissa asked.
"Yeah. I mean our parents wont know, and we have the location of the hotel on the permission slip. We'll just explain what happened to Mrs. Joel. I bet if we leave now we can arrive at the hotel the same time they do."
Marissa thought a second before saying, "Sure, lets go."
They both got back in the car and headed off towards their destination.
