A/N: Just a short angst-y piece I wrote. It can be looked as a one-shot or a prologue to a story that I'll pursue in the future if anyone requests it. Please review and tell me what you think.

"Seto?"
"Hmm...?"
"Have you ever heard that saying?"
Jou took the silence and blank look on his love's face as a sign to go on.
"Y'know ..if you love something let it go and if it comes back it's yours...? I think it's from some annoying pop song..."
An eyebrow raised in curiosity.
"What are you getting at?"
A pause.
"First off, you know how I feel about you, right?"
"Of course."
"And that you feel more or less the same way?"
"Do you even have to ask? You know that I lo--"
A gentle finger was placed upon soft lips.
"Don't."
The statement was simple, but the voice pleading, desperate.
"What are you--"
Confusion was evident as cerulean eyes looked to see amber ones that were slowly misting up with crystal tears that threatened to fall.
"Y-you've never said that to me before...and I didn't want the first time to be...like this."
A pregnant pause ensued.
"I'm sorry."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
The blond flinched at the harsher than necessary tone but didn't answer, instead deciding to leave the room.
He was followed by his love to the front door, where a bag laid, packed and waiting.
"Jou..? What-?"
Said fair-haired teen cut him off.
"It's just that before we get any further...I have to--well this is going to sound random--"
He let out a shaky laugh.
"--But y'know those cheesy chick flicks you're always making fun of?"
Not getting an answer the boy continued on.
"Well in pretty much every single one, there's this person who leaves someone they care about 'to find themself'."
He ran a hand through his thick golden hair.
"You know me...I'm not the greatest with words."
He made the mistake of looking up and quickly shifted his watery gaze.
"I guess what I'm trying to say is...as clichéd as it sounds *I* need to find myself...maybe not exactly find..."
Crystal tears fell out of deep brown eyes.
"...It's more like I need to find a way to accept myself...'cause if I stay I'm only going to end up hurting you."
Gentle thumbs found their way to the boy's face and brushed away the stray droplets of water.
"It's like this...vicious never-ending cycle...anyone I love ultimately gets hurt or ends up hurting me ...and I just--I just want it to stop."
"But--"
"I..I wish I knew what to tell you, but I don't know exactly what I'm doing yet. I just know I have to leave..."
He looked down ashamed.
"I'm sorry for being so selfish--"
"So don't do this."
"If I stay any longer it'll only get worse."
Amazed by the evenness his voice held, he took this opportunity to turn and open the door.
With one long breath to keep even more tears from spilling, he walked out-- into the cold, pouring rain, which ironically mirrored his feelings.
He didn't look back--because if he did, he would never have been able to leave.
