Fate, the complicated web upon which our lives are but a thread. Each
thin string connecting to another, flowing from centuries past to centuries
yet to come. And what happens to us when that thread which is our life is
broken too soon? When fate is unable to fulfill its duty, are we simply no
more? If only it were that simple. Nay, when are lives are not allowed to
cultivate we are doomed to relive them. And if still our fate we attempt to
thwart we shall continue on until we accept our purpose. Thus is my story,
though it belongs not to me, rather to the young girl in my care. Her name
in this time is not important. Her first name is lost to the sands of the
past for she and I are as old in soul as those great mountains in the
distance. She knows not of this, for I fear to tell her. 'Tis a burdensome
load that I shall share now with none but parchment and quill. A thousand
or so years ago the small child whom is now asleep in the bed yonder was in
love with a man of tragic circumstances.
He had been sold as a slave the King of another land which was constantly
at war with her country. The details are foggy to me, but this is certain,
they fell in love. So powerful and intoxicating was their love that the
very sun seemed to rise for them. All would have been well were it not for
the heartless tyrant who ruled her country at that time. Uncertain I am to
how he grew aware of they're passion but when it was discovered to him, her
great love was seized and put to death. Overcome with grief she followed
after him by her own hands. This was not the design fate had intended to
weave. So again they were born, in another time to other families at war.
On this occasion fate had the tender lady slain first, and as before her
lover so filled with grief followed after her. And thus the cycle
continues. Alternating the tragedy only slightly, one dies first and the
other follows. How I fit into this tapestry, except as care giver, I know
not. Alas but this truth I am sure to recognize, when this young one is
freshly entered into her years of faded twilight she will gaze upon him for
the first time. In that instant their fate will be sealed for their hearts
will beat as one as their souls have been for countless ages.
At this point I shall retire to bed. My prayer tonight is as it has been
every night since I learned of fate. Tonight I appeal to God to let the
sweet child I nurture, that she either live the extent of this life or the
next with her love. It is my hope this cursed cycle shall be broken though
I belief it not.
Hank McCoy looked up from the ancient paper. "What an excellent find Charles! To think the folktale which inspired Romeo And Juliet! How on earth did you find it?"
Charles Xavier had a soft smile on his face. "It is quit the story isn't it Hank? Two souls so in love they cannot bare to continue without each other. What would it be like today I wonder."

Rogue lay up stairs in her bed, but sleep would not comfort her. Despite herself her thoughts continued towards the Cajun with the devil eyes. She would never admit it anyone but the instant she saw him, she loved him
Remy LeBeau was in much the same predicament. He had never believed in love at first sight until he had seen her. It was like he had known her forever and loved her just as long. This was a strange twist of fate indeed.
