5:27 AM Sept 12th.
The 55th precinct had gotten together and as a group were tearing through available rubble. Those that weren't were hosing down the huge mass of steel as the fires raged on. Bosco didn't know his sister was uncounted for as he worked, but he knew one of his friends was missing. Lieu counted everyone in 55 and realized that 6 people were missing, after Role call he frowned, looking towards the swarm of Officers searching for signs of life. "Jimmy... We know who's missing."
"Who is missing?" Jimmy sighed as Alex and Kim came up behind him.
"Kim.. I need a favor from you.." Lieu asked her as his eyes teared up.
"What is it?" She looked worried, she had been crying, but knew that she had to keep going. She had called her mother to let her know that she and Jimmy were ok, but she would have to watch Joey for a while longer.
"WE know whom the missing are. There are 6 of them..." He listed off the names stopping at the 6th name, sighing. Looking at Kim, then Alex, then Jimmy. "Mercedes."
With that one name, Jimmy, Kim, Alex, and Lieu almost broke down. They knew the other missing well, but none of them had relatives working at the site, especially not someone like Bosco. They all knew how he was. Would he explode? Would he go on a rampage? Jimmy looked at Bosco and took in a heavy breath. "I'll tell him. Kim you don't have to. Mercedes has been like my sister from the day she started and trained under me. I should tell him. Besides if he hits anyone it should be me. She is my second. She should have been with me the entire time." Jimmy walked towards where Bosco was, shaking his head as tears formed in his eyes.
Lieu nodded and went back to work. Kim decided to walk with Jimmy. She knew Bosco wouldn't take this well and moved to Officer Yokas who was standing there, a few feet from him, digging through as well. Kim notified Faith who instantly walked towards Bosco, who was just being approached by Jimmy. "Bosco..."
Maurice never even looked back, he just kept going, almost as if he didn't hear Jimmy.
"Bosco! Maurice!" Jimmy screamed at him, grabbing his arm pulling him up.
"What the hell Doherty! Can't you see I'm working here?" Bosco spun around and glared at Jimmy, obviously upset.
"We need to talk to you..." He moved his head as if telling him to come with them. Maurice moved with them, getting annoyed with this secret bull. He stared at Jimmy, waiting, arms crossed in front of his chest as he tapped his foot on the settling dust moving along the ground.
"Well?!" He looked straight at Jimmy, ready to kill him, he had things to do, he needed to find his friend and some other missing buddies from the Precinct.
Jimmy looked from him then down at the ground, then back at him. "I don't know how to tell you this.."
"Tell me what..." Now he was mad, growling as the sudden realization kicked in. He went deathly pale and looked up at Jimmy, then to Faith, then to Kim. "No... Don't..."
Jimmy nodded and started to cry. "Mercedes is in there. She radioed she was going back in after pulling a scared woman out. Lieu called for evac and she acknowledged. We have tried her radio, but we only get static. From what we know she was in the first level foyer when the came down."
Maurice closed his eyes, as he fell to his knees, covering his ashen face with both of his dirty hands, and started to sob. Faith leaned down and comforted him as he sat on his feet crying,
