The day Dudley got accepted to Hogwarts (PG)
Dudley looked up from his favourite show, 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here,' as his cousin, Harry, sat down beside him, "What do you want freak?" Dudley snarled, and smiled as his cousin looked taken aback.
Harry recovered and smiled, as he draped his arms around Dudley's shoulders in a friendly sort of way, "My dear cousin, you don't frighten me." He replied.
Dudley shook Harry off him, "Don't touch me freak."
"Sorry, I was just trying to be friendly." He looked at the TV. "So you like 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here,' then?"
"Yeah, so? I wish you'd go there, forever." Dudley snarled, "and not come back."
"It'd be nice for you to go there."
Dudley's piggy eyes lit up, "Yeah, it would, along with her." Dudley gushed, forgetting who he was talking to, and indicating, with a ham sandwich in his hand, the screen, on which Jordon had appeared wearing the skimpiest outfit ever. "Who would you go for, Potter? Peter Andre?"
Harry followed Dudley's hand to the screen and smirked, "For once in my life I agree with you, Jordon, is really nice. Dudley, those snide comments are getting really tired."
Dudley smirked, "Hey Potter, Let's spite my parents and be friends. I'm sorry for all the pain I caused you over the years." He stuck his hand out, Harry eyed him suspiciously, "I swear this is not a trick. In front of my parents we argue but in secret...."
Harry grasped his hand, "If this is a trick, I swear I'll get my wand out and give you the worse hex of bat bogeys ever."
"You can't, you'll get expelled."
Harry smiled and let go of Dudley's hand, "No I won't, wizards are adults at 17 and in case you haven't noticed I'm now 17."
Dudley paled but turned back to watch the TV, on now, was 'Eastenders' Dudley turned to Harry and explained, "Now Sharon is Vikki's half sister as Vikki's dad was Sharon's adopted dad. Sharon is involved with her adopted dad's real son..."
"God, and I thought my world was complicated." Harry complained.
"What's it like?" Dudley asked, not taking his eyes off the screen, "The you-know-what world, I mean. What are the lessons like? Are they as boring as 'normal lessons'?"
"They're ok, My least favourite lesson is potions but that's because the teacher hates me, miserable old bat."
"My history teacher hates me, he says I'm too big for my boots. Do you think I can do you-know-what because I turned his hair purple and blue stripes after he humiliated me in front of the class?"
"Hmm Maybe. I'll have to ask the headmaster.." Harry replied, still a bit wary of Dudley's new found friendship.
"I hate it at Smeltings. I want to be where you are. At least they won't treat me like a freak."
Harry exploded at that, "Have you any idea what it was like here, being treated like a freak, to be hidden away and not to be allowed to be seen by the neighbours? You being treated like a freak seems to be good for you, now you know how I felt."
Dudley was frozen, near to tears, "I told you, I was sorry."
Their argument was interrupted by a brown owl swooping in front of Dudley, who screamed, in terror. Harry pulled the letter off the owl's leg, looked at the letter and handed it to Dudley, "It's addressed to you."
Dudley opened the letter with shaking hands. "It's from your school." He read it with a smile growing on his face with every sentence. "I've- I've been accepted to your school." His face fell, "Mum and Dad won't be pleased."
"Welcome to the world of freaks." Harry said, smiling a genuine smile. "Don't worry Dudley. I'll show you who to avoid and who to mingle with.."
"You'd do that for me? Is that big scary man there? The one who gave me the pig's tail?"
Harry laughed, "Yeah he is. He's actually quite nice once you get to know him."
Dudley enveloped Harry in a bonecrushing hug but broke apart when the door opened.
