Chapter 1.

The pitter patter of a horse's hooves galloped across the small town. A horseman's figure is seen but its motion seemed like a ghost roaming the earth while a darkness loomed behind it. It swept through thick fog as it gracefully ran. The silver of the armor glistened on the horse's black mane through out the dirt roads and then slowing to a trot, the mysterious rider looked across the motionless homes and streets. Anyone would asume the houses were empty, but the houses weren't vacant at all. People knew exactly who the horse rider was, but didn't dare go out to greet him. With a screech so loud and horrifying that the dead it self must of awaken from there sleep, the horse reared its head to the sky.

"It's ok my dear child," A soothing mother held her child her daughter in her arms as she peered through the curtains of her home. The moon shined on half of her face showing the small child crying. The woman began shaking the child slowly but no matter what words she said or songs she sang would relax the daughter.

"Even at a young age, anyone could sense the danger that lies outside," A dry voice said. An old woman with curly white hair stood beside the woman.

"Let's just hope the he passes. Let's just hope we live."

"There is no hope anymore. The horseman rides through so many towns leaving them dead."

The woman began to panic, and started to shake. "No, no! That's not true! How could people know of him if they are dead?"

"Calm down, child. The horse man can hear all...Do you want him to hand pick us?" The old lady gave a harsh whisper.

"If he will kill us, why not be hand picked!" The women spoke louder. Tears streamed down her face. "I just want my daughter to live...she is only a child. No one's life should be taken away at that age." The woman began the cry.

They both said nothing as they watched the horseman head the head of the town. He dug his staff into the soiled dirt; a red emerald shimmered on the rod of the spear. He reached out his hand and chanted a spell that echoed through the emptiness of the silence. There were no words as dreadful as the ones he told. The lamps hanging from hooks of the door frames dimmed to darkness, and all lively things stood still. The words finally came down to a mumble as the spell finished. At that the rider rode of, leaving only the memory of the glare of the horse's red eyes behind. No sound was heard. No words were spoken. The only sound heard was the soft whimpering of a little girl, but no words of comfort would ever reach her as silence and death took over the town.
