Chapter Two

"Miss Pegasus!" the man yelled over the edge of the wall, afraid that she was gone for good. He reached down into his sports coat jacket pocket, pulling out a walkie-talkie. "Rufus to Alfred, we have a situation here," he said into it, rubbing the bridge of his nose from the sunglasses.

A few seconds of static occurred before another male's voice was heard, "Alfred here, what's the problem Rufus?" he asked.

Rufus lowered his head, not knowing how to explain this. He looked down the wall once again, frowning in reply. "Sir, I need back up for the search of Pegasus' niece. She jumped over the wall with a blonde-haired boy," he explained.

"What?" Alfred screamed threw the walkie-talkie. "How could you be so stupid Rufus? Where is your currently position? Help will be on the way," he muttered.

"West wing courtyard," he looked around, knowing this would probably cost him his job, if not his life.

"Back up will be their immediately. Until then, don't even think about leaving this island," Alfred said, before the walkie-talkie grew silent.

Rufus gulped in his throat, reaching up, loosening the collar that was buttoned around his neck from his shirt. "This job isn't worth it," he muttered, glaring down the wall again. This girl was too much trouble.

Down several hundred feet, sitting along the three foot edge, Joey and the girl sat against each other. Both were trying to catch their breath, breathing heavily from the adrenalin rush that occurred just moments ago.

The girl looked up at Joey; blush appeared in her cheeks, knowing that they just practically committed suicide by jumping over that wall. She had no other choice. If she went with Rufus, who knows what would happen. He would have taken her to her uncle, knowing that would be horrible as it was. "Thanks for coming," she told Joey, staring into her eyes.

Joey glared down at her, not believing this. "You just like almost made me commit suicide by jumping over that wall!" he yelled at her, standing up, glaring down at her. He formed a fist at his side; his face grew red from being angry. "You're a Pegasus?! But… but… what the hell are you trying to do? I mean… we almost just died up there!" Fingernails were digging into the palm of his hand, from being so tight in a fist.

The girl looked up at him, before looking away, lowering her head. "My last name may be Pegasus, but I hate my uncle. Besides, if I could, I would change my last name. It haunts me everywhere I go," she began to explain.

Joey looked down at the girl, raising an eyebrow. "What do ya mean?" he asked, sitting down next to her, being rather confused as usual.

The girl looked up into Joey's hazel eyes, never having anyone be this interested in what she had to say like this before in her life. The color in her cheeks turned darker, lowering her head, releasing a heavy sigh, wanting to get this off her chest. "Sixteen long years ago, my parents use to live in this very castle, besides my uncle. My father was my uncle's brother, but after I was born, he had mysteriously disappeared. I never got to know my father," she began to explain to him.

Joey leaned against the rocks behind him, being rather interested in the girl's story. "Go on," he smiled faintly, looking into her violet eyes, not being able to remove his eyes.

"My mother had died two years after I was born," she continued. "So my uncle is the only one left in my family, being stuck living here. A nanny raised me, along with several of the castle maids. I was home schooled by a private teacher. With my uncle working all the time, he was never here. Especially when he created Duel Monsters, I barely saw him.'

"Since he became a work-a-holic, the only time he wanted to see me, well… um…" she hesitated, lowering her head, closing her eyes, not wanting to go on, but she knew she had to. "For… his… own needs," she said under her breath, praying that he did not hear.

Joey's eyes widen, looking over at her, shocked. His face had grown pale, not believing what he just heard. He gasped slightly, covering his mouth, not knowing what to think any more.

She looked up at Joey, chuckling in reply. She blushed in her cheeks, shaking her head slightly. "No, no, no… that's not it at all. It's not that!" she laughed.

Joey raised an eyebrow, blushing in his cheeks. "Sorry, I guess my mind is in the gutter," he replied, his cheeks were bright red now. He lowered his head, scratching the back of it, sweating in reply, trying to chuckle it off in his nervous chuckle.

She laughed still, rolling her eyes slightly. "Pervert…" she replied, jokingly. "But anyways, what I meant was, well… he needed me to help run the company. He wants me to become the next CEO of Industrial Illusions, but I don't want to have anything to do with it. I hated the whole Duel Monsters thing that he was obsessed about, and I guess… that he started to abuse me because I didn't want to have anything to do with him or his company," she concluded, lowering her head, closing her eyes.

Joey felt pity for the girl, wishing there was a way to help her. "So why did we jump down the cliff then? I mean, that was almost suicide, but it was pretty awesome," he chuckled softly. He reached over, wrapping his arms around her, embracing her. He tried to comfort her.

The girl moved into his arms, nuzzling against him. She blushed in her cheeks, resting her head in his shoulder, closing her eyes. "That goon was one of my uncle's men named Rufus. I don't want to go in that castle if I don't have ever again. I hate this island."

Joey smirked in reply, reaching down cupping her cheek. He just got a brilliant idea, rubbing his thumb across her cheeks gently. "How would you like to come back with me after the tournament is over?" he asked, not thinking of anything else better, but loving this idea.

Her eyes widen, looking up into his hazel eyes. She nuzzled against his hand gently, closing her eyes, blush creeping upon her cheeks once again. "Oh Joey… I would love to! That's been my dream all my life."

Joey's cheeks turned bright red, reaching up, scratching the back of his head, chuckling nervously. "That's great! Err… um…" he trailed off, forcing another chuckle. "But what about Pegasus?" he asked, knowing that would be a problem.

The girl lowered her head again, sighing heavily. She did not think that far ahead, wishing it was not a problem. "Well I guess we'll think of something when the time comes," she smiled faintly, trying to be positive.

Joey smiled as well, eyes sparkling softly. He slowly moved towards her, cheeks were dark red.

The girl blushed as well, seeing his cheeks blush. She gazed into his beautiful honey suckled colored eyes, not knowing what was about to happen. She slowly moved up towards him, reaching up, wrapping her arms around his neck. She loved being this close to someone like this. It made her so happy and so comfortable. Being inches apart, her chest began to burn. Her breathing picked up, lips separating slightly.

Right before their lips would lock, foots steps grew louder. "Miss Pegasus!" Rufus yelled from the roof. A flashlight beamed down from above, searching among the cliff side, for any signs of her or that boy.

The girl's eyes widen in fear, quickly standing to her feet. She looked up, seeing the flashlight, knowing they could be seen if it was beamed on them. She began to breath heavily, becoming very scared. She looked down at Joey, whimpering in reply. "Joey…"

Joey stood up, looking down at her, being several inches taller then her. "Come on, I'm sure this edge leads to somewhere," he said. He reached over, grabbing her hand, smiling in reply.

"Thanks Joey…" she muttered, gripping his hand back gently, lowering her head.

Joey looked back up at her, raising an eyebrow. "Thanks for what?" he asked, leading her gently against the edge carefully, hoping it was not a dead end.

She looked up at him, smiling in reply. "Thanks for helping me with everything… I never had anyone did anything this nice for me before," she muttered softly, following him, staying far away from the edge as she could, before looking down into the dark void, not seeing the bottom, gulping in reply.

"That's what friends are for," he replied with his famous smirk. He continued to move down against the edge, not liking the height factor.

A friend? She thought. Her cheeks turned bright red, never having a friend before. She could not believe this. This was the happiest day of her life.

Up upon in the courtyard, five men of Pegasus stood in a group, around the wall. Alfred turned to Rufus, arms crisscrossed, rather angry with him. "You'll be lucky if she's alive, Rufus," he muttered. "Along with you being alive at the end of all this."

Rufus lowered his head, not making eye contact with Rufus. He prayed that the girl was alright, although all she was just trouble. "Yes, sir…" he trailed off, before looking up, seeing a group of teenagers a head of them.

Yugi and the company looked up at Pegasus' men, loosing track of Joey. They did not know where Joey ran off too, not being able to find him. Yugi walked up to them slightly, lowering his head, clearing his throat. "Excuse me sir, but have you've seen a blonde-haired teenager about five feet, nine inches tall, wearing a green jacket and blue jeans by chance?" he asked, beginning to worry about Joey.

Rufus' eyes light up, knowing that had to be the boy that encourages Miss Pegasus into jumping off the wall. "Hell ya, that boy are trouble," he growled, forming a fist at his side. That boy is going to pay if he is the reason he looses his job because of him.

Tristan looked down at Yugi, before looking up at Rufus, raising an eyebrow. "What the hell do you mean by that punk?" he hissed. "No one talks about that way about my pal Joey."

Rufus glared over at the brunette-haired cocky kid. He grew rather irritated with these teenagers rather rapidly. "He encourages Miss Pegasus to jump off the cliff a few minutes ago, is what," he explained.

Yugi's eyes widen in confusion, not believing what he just heard. "What?!" followed by an echo from the group.

"Miss Pegasus?" Tea questioned, looking up at Rufus, rather confused along with the rest of them.

"You heard right," he snorted, crisscrossing his arms, glaring at the twerps. "Miss Kori Pegasus. Mr. Maximillion Pegasus' only niece."

The group gasped, covering their mouths, not understanding any of this. They could not believe this.

Joey and Kori continued along the edge, where it began to rise along the cliff. Joey still held Kori's hand, not knowing how much further along the edge they had to go. He looked at Kori, smiling softly, loving being this close to a girl.

Kori's violet eyes looked up at Joey, sparkling in reply. She smiled after he did. She was so happy, never having a friend before. "Hey Joey, you never asked me my name…" she reminded him, blushing in her cheeks, creeping along the side of the cliff carefully.

Joey blinked slightly, stopping as well. He blushed in his cheeks, scratching the back of his head with his free hand. "Eh… um, what is it?" he chuckled softly.

Kori smiled softly, lowering her gaze. "Kori… Kori Pegasus."
