Death's Angel

I see the Angel of Life.
He is falling,
Has fallen from Heaven.
I laugh as his Pure white Wings
Shrivel and disappear.
I mock him as he takes his first Breath.

"Death's blood torments,
Stains the living Soul.
Weep, fallen Angel!
For Life's shadowed journey
Is swift, yet Infinite."

He stares at me.
Confused Cobalt meets knowing,
Laughing Violet.
"Who are you?"
"I am Death. You will meet me once more.
And you will die." I fade, to watch.

I watch him as he learns;
Learns to Live
To Breathe, to Love.
And I realize…
He is Beautiful.

Even without his Wings,
He is still an Angel.
And, I think…
I am falling,
Have fallen for Him.

I find him, standing Alone.
Violet is lost in Cobalt
As, once more, we stare.
Daring, risking All, I speak.
"I love you." More staring.
Then, softly, "Ai shiteru."
Slowly, we come Together.
Life and Death,
Heat and Cold,
Cobalt and Violet,
Join and become One.

Light explodes,
Shatters the frail Mind
On a grassy hill
Bathed in soft, Pure light.
"My little Death," he whispers,
"Sleep well." And then,
His Breath leaves him for the last time.

Quietly, I rise and walk away.
Turning back, I see Him lying there, still.
Nearly transparent,
Softly glowing,
Pure white,
New Wings are slowly forming.

"Sleep, my beautiful Angel,
And float in Paradise's lustrous waters.
Breathe the Divine spray,
As you listen to the night Wind
Singing of a Power
That stopped Time in soft moonlight Mist."

And I am gone.
I have been Death
To yet another Angel,
Sending him back to Heaven
Where he belongs.
And yet, I wish he were still Here,
With me. "Good-bye, my Heero, my Angel."
