Disclaimer:: I don't own Rurouni Kenshin, or any of it's characters.
Anything Rurouni Kenshin belongs to Nobuhiro Watsuki. I do, however, own
Yoshimi. Please don't sue me! ^_^;;
A/N:: Yes, I've started another fanfic! Please treat it kindly, as it's only my second one. A few characters -may- appear out of character.
Some background:: Yoshimi studied the Hiten Mtsurugi style with Kenshin, only she isn't nearly as good because she hasn't been doing it as long as he has. They are brother and sister, but they do not live together. Keep that in mind. ^_^ Ok, so on with the story!

It was midnight. Seta Soujiro lie awake, pondering the events of the day. He had been in a fight with a female samurai. 'What was her name again?' he thought. She had said it before... 'Ah, yes! Yoshimi...' He closed his eyes and replayed the fight in his mind...

Soujiro was on a walk. He had just gotten into an argument with Miss Yumi, and needed to clear his head. He stopped at a stream and splashed some of the cool water on his face. Behind him, a twig snapped, and he heard footsteps coming closer. Soujiro turned abruptly and found himself face to face with a girl who looked to be about his age. She carried a sword, which made Soujiro tense a little.
"What are you doing here?" the girl demanded.
"I'm just out for a walk. What's it to you, miss?" replied Soujiro, a little annoyed.
"This is -my- property. I will not tolerate trespassers!" said the girl, growing angry. "If you wish to walk around here without permission, you must fight me."
"Fine, miss," said Soujiro. He wasn't going to fight for the land, though. He just didn't like the idea of some girl he didn't know telling him what to do. 'I'll show her,' he thought. "Alright, then," said the girl. She unsheathed her katana, and Soujiro his wakizashi. Soujiro looked up and to his surprised, he noticed something very different about the girl's sword. "Uh...miss?"
"My name's Himura. Yoshimi Himura," the girl replied.
"Yoshimi..." Soujiro smirked. "The blade on your sword is quite different, I see."
"What? You mean you've never heard of a reverse-blade sword?" Yoshimi demanded. "I see you carry a wakizashi. Tell me, do you know you are no match for me with that silly blade? It takes a lot of skill to wield a reverse-blade...and I'm guessing I have more than you since I carryone and you don't!" (A/N:: A fiery one, isn't she?)
"I'll let you be the one to decide that first hand!" said Soujiro as he lunged forward. Yoshimi quickly readied herself for his attack, and used her sword blade to push him away.
"Hah! You fight well...!" Yoshimi said as she attacked. Soujiro countered, and Yoshimi was pushed to the ground by his force.
"The name's Soujiro, miss Yoshimi, and you fight well too," Soujiro paused a moment. "But here is where it ends!" He lifted his sword and prepared to attack with a half-power Shikuchi. After all, he only wanted to put Yoshimi in her place, not kill her. Soujiro tried to lunge at Yoshimi, but the look of fear on her face stopped him in his tracks.
Yoshimi looked up at Soujiro, trying to plead, with her large brown eyes. She could tell already that she had made a mistake in challenging him, as he was far more experienced than she. After all, she'd only been using her reverse-blade for about 3 years. It was plain to see that she had been bluffing before, and wasn't as good as she had said.
Soujiro slowly lowered his sword. 'Wait...' he thought, 'What am I doing? Why am I doing this?' He took one last look and walked away.
Yoshimi watched in surprise as he left. 'Will he come back?' she thought. But Soujiro did not turn, he just kept walking. Yoshimi watched until he disappeared from view. Then she got up and headed back inside, thinking about what had happened. She was surprised to find herself blushing a little bit. Did she...? Nah...it was probably just her imagination...or was it?

Soujiro slowly came back to reality, and the dark surroundings of his room showed to him again. 'Why couldn't I finish it? Why did I walk away?' he mused to himself. He thought about it over and over until a realization came to his mind. It was plain to see that Soujiro had fallen for Yoshimi.
A/N:: So you've finished the first chapter of Love, Lies, Betrayal! Thank you for reading it! I only hope the story gets better as I write it! ^_^ Please R&R, pplz! ~Shikono
