Chapter 4: The Patrol

Since the fall of Saddam and the declaration of major conflict being over, guerilla attacks started. Soldiers began dying everyday from random attacks. Christopher Robin began to look over his shoulder not knowing if someone will throw a bomb. Often his squad members would tell him that he was being paranoid. "Sarge, there is nothing to be worried about. These people are not out to get us. It's just a handful of wacks out there," said Joe Michaels, a corporal in his squad and Christopher's friend. Joe was the squad's optimist and often said things like that. It was November and Christopher's squad was on another routine patrol in Baghdad. Everything was going well and nothing appears to be unusual. Their Humvee turn a corner and then BOOM!!! The Humvee was now a smoldering heap of burning metal. Christopher Robin was conscience but badly hurt. He was still in the damaged vehicle. He looked around and realized that everyone was either hurt or dead. Christopher climbed out of the vehicle and, despite his wounds drag his comrades out of the vehicle's ruins. When he dragged Joe out, he realized he was dead. He cried until he fell unconscious.
