Chapter four
Jean, Scott and Storm stood frozen in astonishment. They stared at the X- rays. Scott wished he was anywhere else but there He wished that the kids would make some kind of problem, and he could just leave. If only he could teleport himself out. He looked at Storm then at Jean, he saw the worry in their dazed eyes, and he saw how concerned they were about the guy laying so peaceful across the room. Scott knew he had to stay for his two friends... and Logan.
"So what do we do now?" Storm asked as she looked up from the x-rays.
"I'm not sure. I don't think there's anything we can do." Jean sighed and loked over at the wolverine. He had always been so strong and brave. But he looked so helpless. The three stood there in silence.
"I think I'm gonna go check on the kids." Storm said before leaving. When she reached the doors she turned and smiled then walked away. Scott turned to Jean.
"I don't get it. What's going on?" he asked shyly.
"Well," she began, and went over to get an old x-ray of Logan's and one of Scott's. "You see Scott," she showed him Logan's old x-ray. "There's the admantium on his bone structure here but in the x-rays I took today, it's not there. It sort of resembles yours." Scoot looked at them profoundly as if expecting to find something. He was confused.
"So he lost it?" Jean only nodded.
"But... how?" Scott felt so confused. He wished he could understand what was happening, understand Jean's pain. But he couldn't, he just stared at her.
"I don't know Scott! I can't figure it out." Logan began to wake up. He tried not to make any noise. He was in so much pain it was difficult not to cry out in agony. But he managed. He held his breath and the pain began to go away. "A few of his bones are broken, his cuts won't heal, and I don't know when he'll wake up." Jean was on the verge of tears she leaned into Scott's arms, and he held her.
"It's okay. He'll wake up soon. Don't worry. He'll be okay." Scott reassured her, but was having trouble with himself. Jean stood up on her own.
"Scott it's so... strange. It's as if his powers are completely gone. What if that happens to all of us, we'll..."
"Shh. Shh." Scott brought Jean into his arms. Jean lay in his arms as Logan slowly moved his legs to get up and out of that place. He pushed off with his hands and feet before quickly sliding forwards and falling to the hard cold ground. Jean ran over pushing Scott aside. His hand flung over and hit the metal counter, as did his phony bone. Scott rubbed his fist laughing a bit. Just then, Kitty and Jubilee walked by. The two girls saw Jean at Logan's side and Scott, who had forgotten the situation, laughing.
"You're so mean!" Jubilee yelled at Scott.
"Why would you do that?" Kitty cried.

Rogue began to hear her stomach grumble. "I'll get some food at the next diner-type thing. Okay?" Everyone that drove by her stared at her very strangely. Finally, she realized she was talking to herself.
After a few hours of driving she finally came across a little restaurant. 'Okay here I'll read the letters, eat something, get a bottle of water then leave.' She parked the bike and grabbed the letters then went in to eat. As Rogue walked through the restaurant she realized how lonely she felt. 'I'm so alone.' She thought. 'I don't know how Logan does it. Maybe I should go back. But, hey at least, I know how to blow off steam or just get away.'
She sat down and ordered fries, a burger and a coke. Now it was time for the 'love letters'. She opened one. She was really surprised at who the letter was addressed to. She took a deep breath and read. The writing was a little bad and there were a few mistakes. But still it was sweet.
The letter read:
Dear Mari,
i don't know what to say. you're the reason i get up in the morning. you're the reason i stay at this place. when i first saw you hear at the scool you took my breth away. i wish i could stop leaving you. when i leave you're all i think about. i wish i could tell you how i feel but i can't you'll never read this letter because i can't give it to you. i love you Mari.
your freind,
Rogue was on the verge of crying she couldn't look at the signature. She looked away from the letter and saw her food. She knew who had written the letter but didn't want to be reassured she was right. She flipped the paper over and saw the signature.
Wolverine... Logan
One small tear slipped down her cheek. She decided to eat her 11 o'clock breakfast first then read another letter. There were actually four. She figured she'd read the other two at supper then camp out somewhere.
.
Logan's eyes flickered open. He saw a bunch of eyes and some glasses peering down over him. They were all watching him. He wished that he could just jump out the window and run. But something was holding him back. It wasn't chains or ropes like what he had felt before, this held him back like he was glued to the floor. Pain.
"What's happening." Logan's voice didn't sound quite as strong as he had hoped. Everyone in the room looked at each other then pointed at Jean. Jean shrugged.
"Well Logan. We think that you've... lost... your powers."
