Chapter 1 Kenshin and Kaoru
It had been 10 years since the fight with Shishio and everyone's return to Tokyo. Life had pretty much gone back to normal. A sudden crash and loud scream interrupted Kenshin's thoughts. He shook his head in exasperation. The twins were at it again, and they chose the time their mother had gone to the market. He got up and walked over to the door, took a deep breath and went in the door. The 9-year-old twins, Kenji and Kaya stood sheepishly next to Kaoru's favorite, now broken, lamp. 'Oh gosh, she's going to kill me.' He thought. "What were you two doing this time?" he asked. "We were playing ball and I missed the throw." Kaya said, pulling on the sash of her kimono. "Well it's not my fault you can't catch!" Kenji said angrily. "Is so" "Is not" "Is so" "Is no-""Cut it out you two. Your mother is going to kill all of us." Kenshin cried. Lifting the two up in the air in opposite hands. "Now, go to your rooms until your mom gets home, ne?" The twins glared at him "Hai" "What ever" He sat them down and they ran off at top speed to their rooms.
'How will I explain this to Kaoru-koishi.' He though, rubbing his head. 'It was stupid of you to have twins ya know.' 'Oh shut up' 'Oh fine, don't take my advice. Why did you stop listening to me anyway.' 'When you got me in trouble, now shut up.' 'Humph, fine, last time I help you.' 'Great' Oh god, now I'm talking to myself again.
"Hello! I'm back!" Cried Kaoru running into the house. Silence, 'Hmm, where is everyone.' "Hello? Kenshin? Kaya? Kenji? Anyone?" she yelled, running through the dojo "I'm in here koishi." Called Kenshin from the living room. She ran in. "Good lord, what happened here." She gasped, looking at the remains of her lamp. "The twins were playing ball in the house again." He said, sighing. "They are currently in their rooms." Kaoru shook her head. When will they learn.
"Oh yes, we got a letter from Misao and Aoshi today." She said, holding a letter out to him.
Dear Kenshin and Kaoru, Hi! How are things in Tokyo? Things here at the Aoiya are pretty boring. Of course Little Giya is driving us nuts. He keeps taking my kunia. He is SO toast. How are the twins? I hope they are well. You told me about Kenshin's job with police, how is that going? Well, we hope you can visit sometime soon. We miss you a ton! Send us a letter any time soon!
