Wait
The world goes too fast to stop and truly appreciate things, Remus Lupin thinks. Everybody is in a hurry, a rush, a bustle, and only stop for certain things that grab them. You have to be demanding and spectacular in a hurried world to get noticed.
People stop for religion. Whether it's controversial, passionate, or interesting, people take time for religion. It's the only thing that is sure to stop the hurry. Remus doesn't much care to discuss it.
War makes others stop and look. But for seconds only. Who is fighting whom, does it involve me, and then they are on the move again without care. War doesn't concern them directly, why should they stop? Remus doesn't much care to think about it.
Quidditch demands attention. Scores are discussed, records are discussed, games are watched and fought over. Attention is paid to Quidditch. But it is merely a part of the busy world. Nothing quite so fast paced can be considered slowing down. It doesn't concern him much. Remus never much cared for Quidditch.
Love only stops people on occasion. And that is when is full of passion and promises and tears and drama. True love is much more rare, and when it does happen, well people will stop for that. They will realize something pure and lasting like that. Remus doesn't think that his previous kisses have stopped the world. They have certainly stopped somebody though.
"Wait," Sirius says. Remus stops and looks at him. He smiles. "I love you."
This time the world stops spinning to watch.
