A/N: I wrote this poem a while ago, but I have since rediscovered it. It's a poem from Neo's POV in Matrix 1. This is also my first fic, so don't be too harsh! Constructive criticism is appreciated, though.
Disclaimer: I don't own the Matrix, the concept, or any of the characters (too bad for me). However, I do own this poem. Anyone that copies, in whole or in part, shall pay dearly.
FREEING MY MIND
I was living in darkness
Couldn't find a way out
The world seemed unreal
I was living in a dream
No, a nightmare.
I sensed something wrong
With my surroundings
I knew that someone knew
The truth to be found
The answers to my cries.
Night by night
I stared endlessly
At a bright screen
Failing to solve this mystery
A true enigma.
One night I awoke
Found a mystifying message
In neon green text
Against a pitch black screen
"The Matrix has you..."
Thoughts raced through my mind
Questioning screams and whispers
I wondered so many things
Am I dreaming?
Have I gone mad?
I regained my sanity
Heard a knock at the door
Reluctantly I went out
One minute alone, the next not
The rest is just a blur.
All I remember
Is a mysterious figure
Bluntly informing me
"Neo, you're in danger..."
Fade to black.
As soon as I received the call
And saw the agents arrive
I knew it wasn't a lie
I wanted to wake up
From this horrifying dream.
Somehow I managed
To get out alive
I'm not quite sure
Exactly what I did
My whole life was spinning.
Finally, I realized
I had found the answer
I was about to meet
What I had been searching for
For so long.
I was beginning to discover
That life as I know it
Is just an illusion
I heard a voice exclaim
"Free your mind..."
What do you all think? Should I keep going with the poem and write about the entire movie/trilogy? Or should I quit now and begin another one? Please R&R
