IF you can recognise them from T.V or the radio I don't own them, however characters created by me are owned by me. The story is mine and welcomed to be archived, just let me know though.
I own neither JAG nor do I own Ben Harpers song "Amen Omen" I mean no disrespect to either owners, or those affiliated with them. I've never written a song fic myself before, I have the remarkably bad habit of skipping song lyrics most of the time.*wry grin* I'm getting better though. I've not used the whole song, merely a few lines that really spoke to me.
This is dedicated to Trisha, who has reminded me that we really are never to busy to write, even if it's –just- fanfiction. ^_^
"Whisper turned Scream"
By Rai Cook
"And you are?" She said softly, a dangerous edge entering her voice.
What started as a whisper,
Slowly turned in to a scream
"Major Scott Mackay Ma'am"
Searching for an answer
Where the question is unseen.
I don't know where you came from
And I don't know where you've gone.
"My new 2IC" she said, scrutinising the man before her.
Old friends become old strangers
Between darkness and the door
"Yes Ma'am" Scott replied as confidently as he could, pride evident even in those two words. He shifted slightly under her unwavering scrutiny. This woman, long brown hair in a single plait down her back, petite build, with intense brown eyes was making him very nervous.
I still hear you saying
"All of life is chance,
And is the sweetest, is sweetest when at a glance"
He was 6'4'', muscular build, red brown hair brown eyes, was easily 5 years her senior, unusual though, she was beautiful, tired no doubt, but beautiful.
But I live,
I live a hundred lifetimes in a day.
But I die a little
In every breath I take.
"Alright then" she said suddenly.
Amen omen, will I see your face again?
Amen omen, can I find the place within
I listen to a whisper,
Slowly drift away..
"Nice to meet you Major," a pleasant smile greeted him. "Don't fuck with me, don't fuck this up, I don't like to be disappointed." She said cheerfully. He stood, stunned as his mouth slowly opened in astonishment.
Silence is a loudest,
Parting word you never say.
"Do you prefer Scott or is there a nickname you'd like me to call you?"
I put I put your world
Into my reins
"Uhh" he was able to manage. "Scott is fine Ma'am."
Now a voiceless sympathy
Is all that remains
"Mac" she said abruptly. "You can call me Mac if you wish."
"Mac, Ma'am?"
"A nickname, my maiden name was Mackenzie"
A question formed on his lips.
She then turned her back to him a symbol of silent dismissal. "No questions"
He walked briskly to the outer office, shutting the door silently behind him.
"Sargent" He said to her aid. "General Webb is not to be disturbed for the rest of the afternoon."
The aid nodded his understanding.
Amen omen, will I see your face again?
Amen omen, can I find the place within
"He's dead Major." She said softly to the empty room.
To live my life without you?
Amen omen, can I find the strength within?
