In case you haven't figured it out, I don't own Static Shock!

"Richie." Virgil didn't know what to do. He didn't move, his jaw dropped, his eyes widened and his mind trying to work everything out. "But... you're supposed to be dead."
"Is he?" Ebon asked the confused superhero.
Static stared at him. "Well ya! I watched him die."
Ebon laughed to himself and the man who had torched Virgil's friend stood forward. "Well then prepare to be amazed." The man began to explain what had happened. .
Two weeks earlier.
When Richie was killed by the power of Static and Shifter, Static fled in fear. Then out of the alley come Richie's friend who sat with him for hours. Below the surface of the street, Ebon and his crew watched them waiting for Virgil to leave. Once hours had passed, one of them imitated the voice of his sister calling for him, hoping he would go home.
"You guys are pathetic!" Ebon yelled at the others. Doing the first thing that came to mind, he sucked Vigil into the ground and left Richie lying on the street. As Ebon spit the boy out in a different neighborhood, his accomplices took the dead boy and brought him to their secret lair.
"So what do you do now?" They asked their boss.
"Now? We'll reboot him like a human-computer." The shadow man explained. "Except we'll brainwash him to be against Static. That way we can use his knowledge him against his little friend."
Once Richie woke up, they got all the information about Static that they could. "Now Richie, you're going to help us finish Static once and for all." ...
"But then," Shifter continued his explanation. "When he saw you something must have triggered his mind and forced him not to kill you."
Suddenly, a ball of metal was shot through the air and wrapped it's limbs around the guy. "That's for turning me on Static." Richie pronounced, as he jumped to his feet. "Come on let's go!" He yelled at his friend as they jumped of the rooftop and flew away.
