Author's Note: I had to change the lyrics slightly, just to fit it into this story. So I hope you don't mind…but still, I suggest you listen to this song while you're reading this (it's a very touching song). It's sung by Annie Lennox.

(4/28/05) Since fanfiction dot net has banned the printing of other people's song lyrics, I have been forced to remove the lyrics from this story. But it's really nice listening to the song while reading this at least!

Into The West

By Charles Xavier

I remember them. I still remember those events that occurred one year ago, those were the last times I saw both of them. I have become a much lonely girl ever since Riku and Sora had left me, here on Destiny Islands. True, I still have a few friends to keep me company: Wakku, Selphie and Tidus so to speak. They have always been good friends to me. But however often I get to see them, I still cannot shake this fear inside myself…the fear of 'their' absence. It haunts me everyday, especially at night, when I sleep…

Every night I have that same dream; I find myself standing by the shore of the beach on a summer night's day, looking out into the distance of the ocean, where I see a ship sailing towards the island. The moon is full, and tries to attract its beauty to my sight, but it doesn't stop me from gazing upon the ship, drawing nearer and nearer to me. The ship I look upon happens to be the same ship that I had once been on myself, when I was imprisoned in the world Neverland a year ago. And it is a gorgeous ship…

And as it reaches the sand, a shadowy figure steps out from the ship, looking at me with a smile on his face…but that's where my dream always ends. Just before the figure steps into the moon's light to show his identity, everything around me suddenly dims, and I soon find myself back in my bed, only to hear the wind rustle outside my window.

I never manage to find out who that boy in my dream is; Riku…Sora? It only makes me cry all the time…

But one night, as I wake up from bed, I hear something different from out of my window…no, it is not the wind's rustling. Instead, I hear the gulls calling from outside. I look to my window, to see a large ship sailing towards Destiny Islands.

Rushing outside, in my night gown, I run down to the beach, unable to take my eyes off the ship. And I stop as soon as the ocean manages to touch over my bare feet, because it slowly comes to my feeling that I have seen this ship before…

Yes, it is indeed the same ship from Neverland. The gulls, the wind, the moon, the ocean's waves…they are all acting, just as it always did in my dream. The ship carefully stops in front of me, and slowly opens up. The first person I see coming out, is a shadowy figure, concealed under the shade of the ship. And I watch him approach me, about to step into the moon's light.

"Tell me it's not a dream." I suddenly say out loud to him in fear. He pauses and stares into my concerned eyes. "Please."

"No." His deep voice meekly answers back to me. "It is not a dream."

His words prove to be true. And at long last, to my greatest delight, the boy steps into the light, and finally reveals himself…

"It is only me."

I cannot say that I could be responsible for my actions right now. But when I see his face winking at me with a his heart-warming smile, I cannot help but run up to him and wrap myself around his waist as tears of joy run down my cheeks.

I still remember the promise that he made to me one year ago; and he had kept it. Sora had at last found me again, after all this time waiting for him…I guess dreams can come true, if you believe in them.
