Authors Note: Yep. Just saw "Holes" today and thought it was a good movie to write fanfiction about. I don't own the movie or the book, but we all knew that, right? Logan Talon is my character, though. Hope you enjoy the story. Please r/r!

---------------------------------------------------

The engine roared under the hood of a cherry red Viper while the bass of techno could easily be heard as it pulled onto a crowded street. There were other street racing cars but this one caught the attention of many people. It wasn't just the car; it was also the driver.

Driving this beautiful Viper was Logan Talon, only fifteen-years-old and even without her permit. However, growing up with a family of racers, she was bound to learn sooner than later. The street racing that Logan did was, of course, illegal in many ways. Her parents didn't know that she did this and racing forbidden in San Antonio as well as any other city. That never stopped Logan before.

As she climbed out of her vehicle, Logan was immediately swarmed with men in their twenties, checking out her car. Logan placed her hand on its roof, patting it as if it were a loyal dog. She just smiled smugly while leaning against her Viper.

"Man, Talon! You've outdone yourself this time!" one man whistled after he had lifted the roof to see the engine.

Logan nodded. "Yeah, I know. Anyone interested in racing me tonight?"

The group of men fell quiet and looked at each other nervously. Logan may have been only fifteen, but she was a heck of a driver.

"No one?" Logan asked, eyebrows raised. "I'm surprised at you guys."

"We just don't feel up to losing anymore money to you," Another male said.

Logan sighed and shrugged her shoulders, looking terribly disappointed. "All right. If that's the way you want it."

"Oh, no you don't. I'll race you, Talon." A deeper voice came from behind the group.

Once the others stepped aside, they revealed a blonde boy that seemed to be eighteen or nineteen. He had the same smug grin on his face that Logan had on hers. It was creepy in a way.

"Hey, Matt! Glad to see that someone has the guts to go up against me tonight." Logan said, sounding perfectly confident.

"You got it, Logan. Let's say. forty bucks as a bet?"

"Eh. Good enough for me."

"Then let's race!"

The two climbed into their cars quickly before getting their cars into position on the street. They strayed away from the older racers so not to interfere with their own races. Sounds of heavy metal and techno blasted from both cars while they waited to start. It wasn't as if either of them had their heart set on winning but the thrill of racing excited them.

"In three. two. one. GO!!!"

Both cars took off with a screech, the music fading instantly as Matt and Logan disappeared down the street. They were neck and neck but didn't dare take their eyes off the road to see where the other was. One false move and they would be dead. It didn't last long and the race was over within the minute. Logan had crossed the crosswalk that was used as a finish line long before Matt had. It proved that her Viper was much sleeker than it seemed. Both streetcars came to a slow stop and Matt was out of the car before Logan cut the engine.

"No WAY you can do that!" Matt laughed. "That car is fast! How'd a rookie like you ever learn something like that?"

"I'm not a rookie!" Logan replied, climbing out of her car.

Matt reached into his pocket and pulled out two twenty-dollar bills, handing them to Logan. "Good race, Talon."

"Thanks, Matt. Try again tomo-"

Logan was cut off when a bright light was shining in their face along with flashing red and blue lights. Putting a hand in front of their faces, Matt and Logan tried to see who it was.

"Don't move, you two! You're under arrest for illegal street racing!"

Logan groaned softly. "Oh, no."
