Scroll 5: Journey Back

In only a few hours, Kagome had made up her mind. They were going to go back..back to Kaede. If any one knew what the hell was going on, it would be her. After all, she was much older and more experienced then her, so it would make sense, wouldn't it? Plus her powers were derived from the same source as Kikyo's, so she was a pretty well-trained miko.

Inu Yasha wasn't too thrilled when she asked to go back. They had journeyed so far and besides, Kaede wasn't his most favorite person in the world to visit. She was the witch who had paired him with an idiotic human girl from the future and cursed him with the necklace that subdued him whenever his female companion uttered that God damn word...

"Well, we're going whether you like it or not!," Kagome said rather forcefully. Shippo was in her lap, gobbling up berries he had picked for his female role-model early that morning. But since she rejected them with a loss of appetite, the young kitsune had plenty of hunger to honor the plump morsels. Licking his azul-dyed claws, he looked over to Inu Yasha. "You know, we haven't seen Lady Kaede in a long time, and she may help with the situation..."

The young hanyou growled lightly in defeat, knowing Sango and Miroku would strike up the same argument against him. He was outnumbered...damn! Even without a clash of swords, his brother had caused him discord. Speaking of Sango and Miroku, weren't they supposed to be back by now....? ____________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________

"The fog is making it difficult for Kilala to smell camp...we could be stuck here..." Worry tainted Sango's voice as the three odd companions strode the forest. The female a demon hunter, the male a monk (though his behavior suggested his position far from holy), and a demon neko who both were riding through the dense forest. "Oh, really?" A shimmer of hope sounded in Miroku's voice. Last night was tragic, but maybe...

"Not for THAT long...wait, it's clearing up!" Kilala halted and the three looked about them as the fog seemed to clear up almost instantly. "Damn, that's just my luck..." "What was that?" "Oh...nothing..." Miroku waved a hand as if to shoo away Sango's inquiration, and they proceeded to their destination. The wanderers suddenly took notice of a familiar word spoken and a familiar tremor in the ground beneath.

Miroku sighed. "I think we've found them..."

Scroll 6: Double Duty

Naraku was in the dead gardens of his mighty stronghold, keeping him company a miko who had long been forgotten and then remembered. Kikyo was not very entertaining, but not a bad sight on the eyes and a strong ally besides. Seeing her tainted with darkness made him want to lick every inch of her...but she was dead deep within, cold and would be no warmth at night, unfortunately. But he could still look and still plot, couldn't he?

Kikyo was explaining of a scroll which told a prophecy. A prophecy brought to life once her reincarnate meddled into the feudal era. It had to do with power, telling of a demon who would rise to greatness and control. But most unfortunately, the demon's name was secret. The scroll would tell the name. All she asked was for Naraku to retrieve it...

Just then, Kagura stepped into the beautifully decayed aromas, interrupting the session between her lord and his favorite client. "Oh? Am I intruding...?" Naraku glanced at his manifestation, shaking his head. "No...in fact, you came just in time, Kagura. By the way, did you have fun with our enemies?"

"I am afraid your old acquaintance Sesshomaru had beaten me to it, so I allowed their fates in his hands..." Naraku snarled, not liking that answer. "Oh really? And do their hearts still beat, Kagura?" It took a moment for her to analyze what she should say. Lowering her head regretfully, she kept her crimson gaze fixated on the ground. "I...do not know...what became of them," she lied. The wench noticed a flicker of anger in her masters' eyes, and silently wondered if Naraku could determine whether or not she told the truth.

"It may as well be all right, Kagura. I have a job for you, as a matter of fact. There is a ancient scroll I'd like you to find..."

Suddenly Kagura felt herself become very ill... ____________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________

Scroll 7: Back to The Starting Line

The gang had gathered themselves in Kaede's dwelling, forming a circle around the elder miko. Kagome handed her the scroll, and upon unraveling it, she gasped. "What strange markings these are! Where did ye find this, Kagome?" Kagome told Kaede of Sesshomaru's proposal to alliance, the ancient prophecy, and of the place where the winds had told her that sacred name.

"But I didn't see any writings before...it was blank..." The elder priestess nodded, knowing the answer to that exclamation. "Aye. Ye must have unlocked the words within when you're soul had been pulled in to the scroll..." "WHAT?!" "Calm down, child! Through the scroll's unlocking, ye was able to revive the ancient text..."

Inu Yasha snorted, though curious. Sango and Miroku exchanged glances, a look of surprise exchanged to each other and then to Lady Kaede. Shippo ceased playing with Kilala in a corner, and perked up to hear what the withered maiden would say next. The hanyou started to get impatient through the silence which hung in the atmosphere. "So what does it say, old hag?" Lady Kaede sighed and began to read the text before her, a language dead to many.

"In a time of peace and joy
Comes one from a perilous void
To unseal the fate of the wicked one
And create a new destiny when another has become undone.

A sacred power has been reborn
To one who's loyalty is sworn
To the winds who change the tide
In the vast ocean of the times.

In one this power will awake
To one's destiny that was to forsake
A demon will choose to be no more:
The sacred souls of our lore"

All sat back in silence, a bit stunned from the shocking truth their ears had taken in. Inu Yasha's auds flickered, still curious though looking a bit stunned. "So...what does it mean?"

Kagome was the one to answer. "It means Wind Chaser...is going to destroy the Shikon no Tama..."

DUM DUM DUM!!!!! LOL, couldn't resist! Anyways, here are replies to reviews from the last two chapters!

Yoshi: Merci, mon amie! If it wasn't for you, Wind Chaser would have never gotten published! I LOVE YOU ^^

Aamalie: Yeah, I realized that after I posted. But this is more based on the show than the manga, and Sango calls Miroku...well, Miroku. But if it will make you happy, I'll make him 'Houshi-sama'. Thanks for all the info & compliment ^^

Sammy: LOL! Thanks, but I hope the story was just as good, LOL! ^^

Ashley: Err, some sort of Kaede having the Shikon jewel making her young again because she was in love with Shippo and wanted to be with him. It was on a Sesshy site that most unfortunately shut down because the people got really rude and dumb. AND THEY RUINED IT!!! WAAAHHH!!! *sniff* ahh well...Oh, and it does have to do with Shippo! And...Jakken scares me, I'd rather kill him off then have him make kissy face in my stories, LOL. Ohh, and exactly! I absolutely love Kagura! She's a pretty demoness who kicks arse and is delectably malicious! She's not a maniac, just a bit hot headed, lol. Also, if none took notice, she's very...proper. Kinda odd, but yeah. But if you like Kagura, you'll like this! ^^

Comet: Arigato! ^^
