"I've been reviewing your reports," his contact said.
"It's everything I've gotten about their technology, intelligence activities and intentions. Everything I could get out of her." Their meeting was well planned. They were unlikely to be discovered, but he still found himself whispering.
"I'm impressed. It couldn't have been easy to get inside that pretty Vulcan head," his contact said with a wry smile.
"The trillium-d addiction helped. She's having a hard time controlling her emotions. I just kept pushing the right buttons and eventually she cracked. Told me everything I wanted to know." He shrugged, dismissing the congratulations. His success was due mostly to luck. But then, he was due some good luck lately.
"Just like that?" his contact asked, genuinely curious.
"No. I had to be subtle; roundabout questions. Prey on her vulnerabilities," he admitted. They'd trained him in interrogation techniques, and he'd used that training ruthlessly.
"Pretty good for an amateur," his contact smiled again.
"I swear, some of the things I had to do…" He shivered at the memories. It had been hard, but he understood duty. And family.
"I understand. It couldn't have been easy for you."
"I just kept thinking about my sister and how she'd be alive if they hadn't kept us down for so many years," Commander Tucker replied, glad that the whole charade was finally over.
"Thank you again, Commander. I think you'll find Section 31 will be suitable grateful as well," Major Hayes told him.
