Synchronicity 1.
Claudette smiled to herself again as she thought about Dutch's remark that Shane had invited him to The Monster Truck Rally. She could picture the look of horror on his face at finding himself at such an event.
She felt relaxed, she had her partner back and, remembering her earlier gaff, she'd reassured him she'd missed him. Glancing at Dutch she wondered who in his past had made him so insecure about himself, his self-esteem so fragile, that he didn't seem to realise his own worth.
"Dutch I meant it you know, I really did miss my partner." She said.

She'd said she'd missed him, but Dutch wondered if it was really true. After all she'd been working with the supposed "Super-Cop" Vic Mackey. What if Claudette had compared them and he'd come up short?
He stared at the Kelner paperwork, and chewed his lower lip. What if Claudette decided she wanted a permanent change? He liked Claudette, respected her, and had begun to think maybe she felt the same about him. Maybe he was fooling himself.
"Dutch," he hesitantly looked at her, "I meant it you know, I really did miss my partner."
Relief flooded him, she sounded sincere.
