Fallen will return to ff.net shortly after I turn it in to my creative writing instructor for critique.
In the meantime, let me place a cute, little story here for your enjoyment. It's one that has been rattling around in my head for a while now…

It was only eight o'clock in the morning, but the sky was dark. Really dark. It was as if the clouds had been holding back all the winter rain, sagging under the weight of the crystalline droplets. The sky looked like it was going to virtually split apart at any moment. Which kind of made me nervous. Hey, I'm a tough girl. I have been taking kickboxing lessons ever since I was three years old, and I can beat the bloody crap out of anyone who dares lay a finger on me. But even so…weather is something that's uncontrollable. Wind and water wear away stone.
And I am not a stone.
But duty calls – if I don't brave the weather, I might just end up flunking high school.
Which brings me to another thought. Remind me to throttle whoever designed the school uniform. It's just not right.
The wind began to slowly gain strength. Leaves started flying around me and something very heavy and wet landed right on my upturned face.
Damn.
Stupid weather.
I started to run, half-blind with the stuff the wind was picking up and launching at my face. My hair came loose from the unsubstantial clips I had put in earlier. A leaf, sodden and trampled, whipped up from the pavement and slapped me. The wind suddenly howled – really it did! And that's when I decided that school could fry in hell for all that I cared. I had to get out of that storm before it really broke loose.
I sprinted headlong into the trees at the side of the road, breathless and somewhat scared. The storm had come up too quickly. Something was definitely weird about this.
