Chapter 2 – Who's Fooling Who?
Fool, fool, fool! Kim thought angrily to herself, wanting desperately to slap her forehead and march back down the stairs.
How could I be so stupid! She couldn't take it, it was driving her mad! She knew she had to talk to him before her head exploded, but he was never alone!
If it weren't for that opinionated little bitch of his, and that monkey- like idiot, and that Buddhist nerd, perhaps I'd be able to snatch the real prize the freshmen class has to offer. Than again, she added thoughtfully, dating down would mean falling down. And falling down was not something a respected and popular senior was ready to do.
Oh, but I've had this argument before! And it's always the same thing...no, I can't talk to him, because if I date him, I will be stooping down to a freshman's level, and I don't, under any circumstances, date freshmen.
Ugh! This is so aggravating! Kim pursed her lips loathingly as she stalked into her last class, biting her tongue to keep from screaming. A few people said 'hey' and 'yo' to her, but she simply smiled falsely and took her seat, glaring at anyone who even tried to talk to her.
As the period dragged on, she kept shifting in her seat, uncomfortable constantly. She couldn't hold her attention on the teacher, and kept staring off into space. More than twice she was jolted awake by her teacher, frustrated by her unusual behavior, and told to pay attention.
All she wanted to do was to go home and take a nice long bubble bath. Unfortunately, she had a Cougar Radio meeting to attend, and her presence was mandatory.
Stupid Waller and his "meetings". More like sit around and wait for unpunctual Waller to arrive "meetings".
Maybe if I ditch he won't notice, she smiled at the thought, but sighed when she realized that of COURSE he would notice. She's Kim Carlisle, everyone notices when she's not around.
And, she found, this was the only time where that certain fact didn't please her.
I can't sneak out of anything! I'm the star of every classroom, and the leading figure everyone in the school turns to. Why the hell did it have to be like this! I have no privacy!
Her anger kept building and building so that, when the bell rang, she leaped out of her seat and sprinted out of the classroom in an fuming rage. Zigzagging her way through the crowded hallways, she saw no one and heard nothing but the pounding of her furious and annoyed heart.
Kim was so distracted, in fact, that she didn't even notice who she ran into until pain ebbed through her from falling to the floor.
"Ugh, watch where you're going!" she screamed, lifting her eyes to glare at who had knocked her down.
That was when the world stopped. Robbie stared back at her, his breath caught in his throat and crimson red flooding his face. He couldn't believe it, he was so embarrassed.
Of all the people to knock down in the hallway, why Kim? I mean, there was sort of an upside to this, he thought smartly. Now she has to notice me.
"I'm sorry, Kim..." He muttered, staring at her somewhat bewilderedly.
"Well, are you going to help me up, McGrath?" Kim asked heatedly, trying to keep her attitude in check. She didn't want him to know the near breakdown she almost had at seeing him.
"Um, yeah, sorry." Robbie replied, reaching down and taking her hand in his and pulling her to her feet.
Brushing off her jeans, Kim stared at him and cocked her head to one side, smirking at him smartly.
"Thank you. Now, if you will excuse me, I have a meeting to attend." She walked away, swaying her hips, hoping he was watching.
God, why did that have to happen? She thought exasperatedly, smoothing her hair and sighing. She'd almost lost her cool. And she didn't even want to think of where she would be if that had happened again.

"You're listening to Radio Free Roscoe. I'm Question Mark and, I'm wondering... why do we-"
"You know what?" Lily interrupted, receiving confused stares from her crew. "I have a question I'd like to ask..."
"Ask away, Shady." Ray invited, lying back in his chair, raising an eyebrow and preparing for her 'interrupt Robbie' worthy topic.
"What do you do when you're crushing on someone, but aren't sure if they like you back?" Lily began, her eyes staring intently at Robbie. "Do you sit in for the long haul of a crush going no where, or do you step forward and confess your love?"
Robbie's eyes grew large as he stared back at her, and he felt color rising in his cheeks. Ray was staring at her incredulously, no longer relaxing in his chair. Instead, his hands had clenched tightly as he bit his tongue. He seemed to have gotten the wrong impression of what Lily was saying.
Travis, who had been going about the show as normal, had stopped completely, and his eyes were fixated on Lily. He'd felt his heart begin to race as her words dropped heavily on his mind. Was she talking about him?
"You know, I...I think I'd like to know your views on this, Shady." Robbie asked, feeling slightly smug as he tilted his head back to watch her from a condescending point of view.
Lily pursed her lips, knowing that Robbie had definitely cornered her. When she turned to Ray for support, she only saw him staring at her with a questioning look in his eyes. She knew how he felt, and she knew how she felt. But she didn't think that everyone had to know.
"Umm...well, actually...I don't really have an opinion on this...particular subject." She finally professed, smirking at Robbie.
"Oh, come on, you posed the question, it must have been sparked from something."
"Question Mark, why don't you tell me what your feelings are on the subject instead?"
"Oh, no, don't even try to change the topic. I asked you first."
Lily felt cornered. She felt her eyes shift wildly to her right to eye Travis nervously. Even he was staring at her. She gave him a pleading look, and he immediately turned on a song.
Tearing off her headphones, Lily instantly opened her mouth to give Robbie the worst verbal beating he'd ever had.
Instead, he cut her off.
"Don't even start with me, Lily. I know what you were trying to do, and you know that asking way too personal questions on the air is something I can't stand." Robbie was fuming. At first he'd been somewhat amused, but then it just turned into an argument. He couldn't believe Lily had the nerve to embarrass him that way! And on the air!
"Oh, don't be such a hypocrite!"
"Hypocrite!?"
"Hey, guys! Settle down!" Ray stepped in, confused himself at what had just happened. He didn't understand why everyone was so touchy.
Lily bit her lip and stood up, gathering up her things. "I'll see you guys tomorrow." She said curtly before leaving the room.
As the door slammed shut behind her, Robbie sighed in annoyance. Lily and he usually got along so well, this was so unusual for them. He felt suddenly very embarrassed, and, glancing around briefly at Ray and Travis, Robbie stood up and left the room, muttering a quick goodbye before shutting the door.
