Chapter Three – A 20 Minute Drive and the Lily
The alarm on Lily's clock rang out loud as she hit it with her fist. She threw the blanket off her and sat in an upright position. She groaned as she felt her hair sticking out in various directions. She got off the bed and reluctantly went inside the bathroom. She opened the faucet and washed her face. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and groaned again. She stripped off her clothes and stepped inside the shower, letting the warm water flow down her body.
After drying herself up, she placed on a red midriff top beige Capri's and red sandals. She brushed her hair and applied on some make-up. Lily glanced at the clock and noticed that it was already 11:05. Typical of him to arrive late. Lily sighed
Suddenly, the doorbell rang. She walked towards the speaker near the door and pressed a button.
"Yeah, who is it?" Lily asked
"It's James. I just arrived"
"I'll be down in a sec"
Lily exited her room, making sure she locked it. She rode the elevator down and finally exited the apartment itself. She saw James waiting; leaning on a black convertible.
"Are you sure you wanna wear those sandals? We'll be walking around," James said
"I'm sure I can manage" Lily said as she got inside the car
"Are you sure?"
"I'm positive! Just drive!" Lily nearly yelled
James held up his hands.
"Okay, okay. Just making sure if you wanna change your mind coz maybe one of the heels may break and those look new" James said, looking at Lily
Lily glared at him and rolled her eyes.
"Ugh!" she sighed in frustration and got off the car
"Where are you going?" James asked
"Back inside! If it makes you feel any better and for the sake of you to stop bugging me, I'll change my shoes!" she yelled as she went back inside and slammed the door
James sighed as he waited for Lily. Lily came back wearing white sneakers.
"There! Better!?"
"Much better" James grinned
"Oh wipe that grin off your face" Lily stressfully said
James didn't respond and drove off.
"Where's that garden thing?" James asked
"Unfortunately and sadly, it's 20 minutes from here. Know where Lovell Hotel is?"
"Yeah, 20 minutes to get there from here"
"That's what I said," Lily muttered, "Anyway, drive there but park near the garden. It's just behind it"
"Yes ma'am" James said, "Want some music?"
"What do you have?"
"There's a CD case at the backseat"
Lily turned around and grabbed the CD case. She opened it and browsed through.
"Wide collection…" she said, "I'm surprised. By the way, what happened to the Marauders? Did you guys break up?"
"Of course not! Sirius and Remus are living in one roof. Chaos ensues. I don't where Peter is, that little rat"
"Here, I like this" Lily said, handing a CD to James
"Evanescence?" James said
"What? I like it" Lily said
James shook his head and placed the CD in.
"Choose a number" he said
"Eight"
"I believe in you; I'll give up everything just to find you. I have to be with you, to live, to breathe. You're taking over me." Lily sang
James watched Lily as she sang.
"I just realized you had the most beautiful voice" James said
"Please James, you're engaged"
"I know. I'm just saying"
"Thanks" Lily said after a few minutes of silence
"No problem. Hey, is that the one?" James asked, pointing to a beige building
"Yeah. Just park over there by that corner"
James parked the corner and turned the engine off. Lily got out and lead the way. As they arrived there, James was already stunned.
"It looks more beautiful when you see it not through a picture" James said
"I know. I sometimes come here just for the flowers. They plant more flowers every four months."
James looked around the flowers and soon spotted it. He walked towards the flower and took it off. He took out his pocket knife and cut off the some thorns. He went back to Lily who was giving him a suspicious look.
"This is for you" James said, showing her the pink lily that he hid behind his back. Lily took it from his hands, "The lily"
"James," she breathed, "I don't know what to say. I know it's just a flower but you know me, I make a big deal about flowers…especially lilies. Thank you"
"No problem" James smiled
