Chapter 2
A Sister?
As they were getting outside of the car, someone was coming to greet them outside. Philip nodded towards the door and Charles turned around and walked towards the woman standing at the top of the stairs. She was a pretty woman. She was tall, slim, dark blue eyes, with ivory skin, and long black straight hair with bangs in the front. Charles put his arms around this woman and kissed her on the cheek. Anyone who would see them, would think that they looked picture perfect together. She was a very beautiful girl indeed, but he wasn't that behind in looks from her. He had light skin, pretty muscular arms, dark hair with a little pomp, and blue eyes. They looked as if they were the wizard version of prom king and queen together.
"Hi sweetie. Glad to see you home safe and sound," said the woman to Charles.
"You had doubts that anyone could defeat the great Charles when he's in action?"
"Do you really want me to answer that?" she asked as she arched an eyebrow up giving him a playful look. Philip was about to arrive at the top of the stairs with Lily when the woman noticed Lily. "Hi Phil, and who's this little munchkin you brought with you?"
"Hey Carly," said Philip as he hugged her. "This is Lily, she's a runaway."
"Yeah, and don't get too attached Carly or get any ideas either," said Charles.
"Nonsense, I don't know what your referring too. Come on sweetie, you must be cold and a bit hungry as well," said Carly as she went over to Lily's side to grasp her hand and to pull her along inside the house. Lily didn't put up any sort of a protest what so ever.
"Guess Carly's smitten with Lily," said Philip.
"Of course, she's always wanted a daughter to dress her up like a little miniature doll of themselves, or what ever woman like to do with their daughters," said Charles. "Come on, let's go inside it's getting chilly out here."
"Thanks, but I still gotta get home. I promised James I'd read him a story before he went to bed. I bet he's driving Sheri bonkers asking when I'd be home, and saying a promise is a promise. Sheridan'll skin me alive if I'm anymore late than I am. I'll floo you tomorrow to see how's everything going. Bye." Said Philip as he apparated away with a 'pop'.
With that, Charles sat down and gazed up at the starry sky, not really seeing it or even thinking, but just enjoying the moment. He stayed like that for who knows how long until he felt someone standing over him.
"There you are. I was wondering what happened to you," said the voice of Carly as she sat beside him. I tucked Lily in one of the extra rooms. She's sleeping now I suspect. You know, she's quite adorable, and the little chatterbox. She and I had a nice little chat. She really didn't say anything about herself, but at least she talked. I really like her."
"I knew you would. That's really one of the reasons why I brought here. I just can't quite explain it, it's something about her that compels you to just want to hug her and shelter her from her fears."
"I think I know what you mean. It's those eyes, they betray her you know. She puts up this brave, cold, almost icy exterior, but her eyes scream out the pain and the fear she's gone through. I just wanna help her Charles."
"You will Carly, you will. You have a big heart, you'll get through to her. And besides, you've got lots of patience being most of the day with Sirius. I don't know how you do it love. And speaking of the devil where's the children by the way?"
"Your barely asking for the kids? That shows what kind of a father you are!" she said it with a bit of a tease in her voice. "Well, Sirius' over with the Potter's with James. Oh those two, they can destroy the world together if they really wanted with no one to stop them. And Regulas'- (Reggie for short. I just don't see any parents calling their son Regulas ALL the time) spending a few days with my cousin. Bellatrix was getting a bit lonely being alone seeing as her sisters are off with some friends these days."
"Honey, try not to take it the wrong way, and I know they're family, but I just don't see why we have to be so chummy with them. I just don't get such a good vibe from them. I really don't want much to do with them."
"Be nice, they are family. And besides, Reggie really gets along with Bella. It's getting late, se should turn in for the night," she said.
"You know what, I've got a better idea as to what we could do. . ." said Charles with a grin as he started to get up and pulled Carly inside and closed the doors.
*--*The following morning*--*
"Who are you?" chorused both James and Sirius.
"And who exactly are you?" asked Lily as she turned off the TV, and lifted her head up from the couch.
"Why the king of this house for starters," said Sirius.
"Funny, and here I thought the cop was the so called king," said Lily.
"'Cop?' what are you a muggle or something?" asked James.
Lily just gave him a small smirk and went on watching TV.
"Oh, I see you guys meet Lily boys," said Charles as he was entering the living room.
"Yeah . . . unfortunately," mumbled Sirius below his breath. "Where she come from anyways?"
"Well, it's a bit complicated but let's just say I think it's safe to assume she's going to be living with us from now on. We're sort of adopting her babe." said Carly as she joined the conversation in the other room.
"Do we have too? I mean we already have Regulas how many more kids do you guys need?"
"Now Sirius, I want you to promise me you'll be nice to her," said Charles with a warning in his eyes.
"And do try to behave while your around her won't you?" said Carly.
"Don't want her to know what she's gotten herself into ehy? Come on Sirius, let's meet your new sis," said James as they both left the room.
When they got to the living room, they expected to find Lilt their but she wasn't. They went around trying to find her but it was as if she just vanished. Of course they knew she was still inside of the house 'cause the house's alarm was still activated. They soon got tired from going around the house looking for her, so went on with one of their favorite things to do in the world, fly on their brooms. But to be honest, they both had to admit she was good and gave her props for keeping out of their radars, which is actually no easy task.
"Oh Carly, I don't know how you do it. You know with two kids already. I was going a bit mad with just James and Sirius yesterday. I love them to death but they're more than a handful when that sugar rush kicks in you know. That's one of the reasons why James's is an only child, otherwise I'd be on one of the wards of St. Mungo's," said none other than Sheridan Potter while sipping a cup of tea. She was a really pretty woman as well. She was a bit short, rather thin, soft curly strawberry blonde hair which she wore pulled up to both sides with a few clips, and light hazel eyes. "But Sirius's a doll. He makes me crack up SO much! It's as if they're both soul mates, ying and yang, you know?"
"Yeah, those two are rather joined at the hip," said Philip. "But it's a good thing your doing for Lily. You do have to wonder though, you know, if she's really a witch. I've done some snooping and no one can place any family ties to the girl. It's as if she just shot up straight of the ground."
"Oh my will you look at the time, we've really must be going now. We've got an appointment with a couple of contractors, and you know it's extremely hard to get them to meet you at an exact time," said Sheridan as she got up from the table. "James honey, we've gotta be leaving now, come on downstairs."
"If you want, you could leave James here for the night, I know Sirius would love that, and besides, it'll be good training for me having 3 kids in the house."
"Your such a trooper Carly," said Sheridan.
"You know I love kids."
"Too true. I wish I could've met Lily today, I'll have to drop by tomorrow and meet the girl."
"I've got no idea where she's at right now, but you'll love her," said Carly as James and Sirius were racing doing the stairs.
"Do you have to go Mrs. Potter? Can't you stay a bit longer?" asked Sirius giving her the sad little puppy eyes.
"Yeah mom, can't we stay a bit longer?" said James hugging her at the knees.
"I've got a better idea, what if you guys stay here tonight? Would you guys like that?" asked Philip.
"YAY!?!" screamed out the boys and hugging both Sheridan and Philip and almost knocking them over and running back up stairs.
"Come on Sheri, or we'll be late, well, we'll see you guys tomorrow for dinner." And with their good-byes, they 'popped' off, without knowing they were being somewhat watched by none other than Lily.
-**-Author's note-**-
Okay, another shortish chapter, but I want to ease up into this story slowly. In this chapter I only wrote about other ppl might think and to get to know more the chacters and give them life. Next chapter I'll be going to be writing about Lily a bit more and about what she thinks since she didn't talk much in this chapter. I might have the next chapter done by next week but no promises seeing that I still haven't written my senior portfolio and it's due rather soon and I'm a bit behind in my English classes. So until I type again. . . See you later alligator.
*Once again, things that seem familiar may not be mine but borrowed from the wonderful J.K. Rowling and Carol O'Connell. But the rest is SO mine*
