Part 2

A loud growl emanated from across the park, and Angel looked up. "I guess we'll figure out later. Come on lets go."

The three men ran across the park. The growling continued and they followed its sound to a run down building at the edge of the park. Busting down the door, Angel ran inside. A small candle was lit near the entry and Wesley gasped as a huge shadow appeared on the far wall. It was gigantic, covering the entire wall with its darkness.

"Oh that can't be good," Gunn breathed out and looked at Angel.

Angel adjusted his hold on his sword. "That's it alright." He slowly crept towards the shadow, Gunn and Wes behind him. As the creature came into view, the three men stopped in their tracks, too shocked to move.

Cordelia groaned as she made her way into Angel's bathroom. Looking in the mirror, she saw the dark circles under her eyes, and cursed herself for forgetting her concealer that morning. She could really use it now. Sighing, she turned the tap water on. Letting the cool refreshing water slide over her hands, she cupped them, letting the water pool in her palms. Closing her eyes, she splashed her face a few times with the water and then turned the tap off. Keeping her eyes closed, she grasped blindly for a towel. When her hands came to rest upon the terry cloth fabric, she brought it to her face and dried off the moisture. Opening her eyes she let out a soft gasp and jumped involuntarily.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you," Fred's soft voice apologized from the doorway.

"Its okay, Fred. I'm just a little jumpy right now." Cordy said as she walked back into the room. Sitting down on the end of Angel's bed, she cracked her neck. "What can I do for you?"

"I was just checking to see if you were okay, if you needed anything." Fred replied, wringing her hands in her shirt.

"Angel told you to check on me, didn't he?" Cordy smirked.

"No, no…" Fred started, then stopped at Cordy's raised brow. "Alright, he did, but it's only cuz he's worried 'bout ya."

Cordelia drew in a deep breath and let it out before nodding. "I know, but I'm alright. I'm just going to lay down here, get some rest."

"Oh, okay. Well then, I'll just be downstairs. If you need anything, just l-let me know."

Cordelia smiled softly and nodded. She lay down on the bed, curling into one of Angel's pillows. She heard Fred leave, and closed her eyes. Sensing a presence in her room, she opened them back up. Prepared to tell Fred she was fine, and it was okay for her to leave, she sat up….and gasped as the figure turned out to not be Fred.

"That's it?" Gunn's voice held a tinge of wonder and amazement to it.

"Yes, I believe it is." Wesley concurred.

"It's unbelievable." Angel whispered.

The creature growled loudly at them, rearing up on it's legs and swiping at the air.

"You're telling me, that that thing there," Gunn pointed at the creature and then to the door. "Did that to that body out there?"

"Yes."

Gunn shook his head and focused back at the creature. Suddenly he laughed out loud, a deep chuckle that sent Wesley into a small fit of giggles. Angel shook his head and smiled widely.

The creature, this huge scary creature that Cordy saw in her vision, that tore that poor man's body apart and arranged it so carefully…..was the size of a small child. A leprechaun even, no more than three feet tall. The sheer magnitude of the shadow had been from the candle near the door, shining against the demon and making it appear larger than life.

Angel sobered. "Well, I guess we should kill it now."

"With what? A butter knife?" Gunn asked, sending them all into another round of laughter.

The creature, hearing their laughter, growled louder, which only made them laugh harder. It jumped at them, suddenly, ripping at Angel's jacket.

"Whoa," Gunn said, stepping back.

Angel knocked the creature to the ground. Seeing a small tear in his jacket, he looked up at the creature. "This is my favorite jacket." He said, morphing into his vampiric face. "Now you're gonna get it."

The three men jumped into action. The creature jumped and clawed at them all, but it proved little more than an act. After a few seconds, the demons head lay to one side of the room, and the body at Angel's feet. Morphing back to his human face, he wiped his jacket.

"Well, I guess it learned an important lesson tonight," Gunn quipped. "You don't mess with Angel's threads."

"Who are you?" Cordelia breathed in and stood up, backing away from the man.

"That's not important." The intruder replied, his thick Russian accent making it difficult to understand.

Through the doorway Cordelia could see Fred laying on the floor, knocked out cold. She swallowed the lump in her throat, and look back at the man. "I think it is. What do you want? How did you get in here?"

"I walked, as for what I want, that isn't important either." The man started walking towards her. She screamed and tried to dodge his grasp. He grabbed hold of her arm, spinning her around to face him.

"It seems, you're coming with me. Don't try and do anything stupid, and nothing bad will happen…to you at least."

Cordelia, opened her mouth to scream once more. The man lifted his fist and plowed it into her face.

"I warned you."

The last thing she saw before everything went black was the wall very close to her…almost impossibly close.
