Part 4
The green demon shook his head as he and Angel rounded the corner into the hallway. He was serious, for once, completely serious. "Someone took Cordelia. Someone forced their way in here, and took her."
"Who was it?" Angel asked glancing back over his shoulder at Fred.
"I don't know, and neither does she. I think they injected her with something, made her forget what happened. But I think its there, under the surface." Lorne replied. "Maybe if I could delve a little deeper, see what's going on in her head, I might be able to find out what's going on."
Angel turned back to him. "When can you do this?"
"I can do it now, if you'd like. Of course, it's ultimately up to Fred. I can't do this without her permission, it won't work."
Wesley joined them outside the room. "She has an injection mark on her right shoulder. Someone shot her up with something."
"Figured as much," Lorne replied. "Do you want to give this a go?"
"Yeah," Angel replied, turning back to the room.
"What are we doing?" Wesley asked Lorne.
"We're going to see what she remembers." He ducked into the room behind Angel, leaving Wesley out in the hallway, confused.

The young woman's eyes were closed as she lay on the bed. She obviously didn't remember anything, which was a good thing for them. Suddenly her eyes opened and she sat up, looking straight at him.
"Who are you? Where am I?" Cordelia trembled.
"My name is Smilnov. You are where you are." He answered in a thick accent.
The man was tall, dark tan skin, dark hair graying at the temples, and dark eyes. He was quite handsome, but there was something under the surface that gave Cordelia the wiggies: a certain twinkle to his eye that seemed almost…evil.
"What do you want with me?" Her voice trembled before she could stop it.
"Not everything is always as it seems." He replied, grabbing her. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a syringe. Popping the plastic cover off the needle, he jammed it into her shoulder, near where his first injection had been. Of course, there wasn't near the same amount of medication in this syringe as there had been in the first. This was merely a follow up, to keep her sedated.
She yelped as the needle pierced her skin, and then immediately relaxed. He laid her back on the bed and pulled the needle out.
As her eyes closed, a single tear fell from the corner of her eye, and he smiled. Turning around, he walked back out through the wall. Tossing the syringe in the trash can, he turned around.
"So good of you to come," he greeted the new visitor. "I was wondering when you would show up."
The woman smiled and looked through a window into the room at the young woman on the bed. "Sorry Fyodor Sergei, a meeting ran late, you know how that goes," she replied looking back at the man.
He nodded. "I do. And please, call me Smilnov"
Lilah moved into the light. "I thought you said your friends called you Fyodor Sergei?"
"They do. We are not friends." He looked at her.
Lilah swallowed, forcing herself to smile. "Of course, we are associates. So are we about ready to begin?" Looking back at Cordelia, she watched her moan and curl up into a ball.
"The drugs are taking affect now, soon. Very soon, we will be ready." He smiled.
"Good. I can hardly wait."

Fred swallowed as Lorne and Angel moved to the bedside. Lorne took her hand and sat down.
"Did you see anything?" She asked, her voice trembling.
"A little, but not enough. You have it in you, you can remember, its there. I just couldn't get to it. I think I can though."
"What do you have to do?"
Lorne was quiet for a moment. "Did you ever watch Star Trek?"
Fred blushed a little and nodded.
"Okay then, you know what the Vulcan did, Spock. The mind melds?"
Fred nodded again.
"It's kinda like that, sweetums. I'm gonna try and get into your brain, unlock the memory, sorta like reading your aura. If that's okay with you. It shouldn't hurt at all, but you have to make the decision to let me do this."
"This can help us find Cordy." Angel spoke up from behind him.
Fred stared at him solemnly. She wasn't too keen on the idea of letting someone into her brain, as a matter of fact; she really didn't want to do it. Looking in Angel's eyes though, seeing how much he needed her to do this, her mind was made up. She looked back at Lorne and smiled a small tight smile.
"Well, what are we waiting on?"
Lorne nodded and placed his fingers on her temples. "Close your eyes, and concentrate. Take yourself to a place that you feel comfortable, wherever that is." He felt her relax and slowly, he began his search.
