Next part
The next morning she sat with Merlin in the garden; that was the best places to talk, it always made Gwen feel at peace with all the different flowers and sweet smell. She told him of her dream and what her voice told her in her head and what she thought she should do about it. If she could get one of her 2 dragon friends to give her one baby dragon when it was 3 weeks or even 4 weeks old, she could train it, even though she knew training it's not something she would have to worry about if the dream was true. So thought maybe if this was to happen the dragon would follow her and be as loyal to her and too other people that would join her in her Quest.
Merlin looked over at Gwen that was sitting on a stone chair with her head down. He went back and looked at the red and white roses that almost looked as if they were dieing, he was trying to heal them as Gwen told him of her dream almost in distress. "This dream you had is a very odd one but I don't see who could have told you this," he trailed of a second and turned to look down at Gwen "Do you know or even recognize that voice?" Gwen looked up at him almost in tears but then looked down to the ground. Gwen would never cry in front of Merlin or anyone for that matter, she knew she was too strong for that, Merlin also knew that she was to strong at heart. Gwen didn't look face to face with him but she turned her head slightly and looked at him from the corner of her eye, "Well yes and no... I believe it was," she took a deep breath "Draco, the dragon god." Merlin looked at her and smiled in confusion, "What makes you believe that voice was his voice?" Gwen didn't even look over at him to answer, "I saw him... in my dream." Merlin's eyes widen so wide that all you could see was the white around his eyes. "You're telling me you saw him? No ones ever seen the gods, many have claimed to but that doesn't mean anything." Gwen cut him off, "No I didn't SEE him, see him, I just knew he was there, I like saw him in my head if you know what I mean?" Merlin looked at her, his eyes calming down some. "Yes I do Gwen." Merlin looked over at Gwen who was looking at the roses in front of her breathing in all the sweet smells from the flower and from the others around them, trying to relax even at the slightest bit little. All he could do was smile from how calm she looked even when he knew she didn't understand something such as this. "Well if what your saying is true, witch I believe it is, how are you going to get a baby dragon? Wait!" Gwen looked over at him in shock from him stopping in a dead sentence. "Did you say you knew 2 dragons?" Merlin said looking over at Gwen as he sat down next to her, his dark purple cloak hanging down from behind the stone seat covering the ends of Gwen's dress. His cloak almost stretching longer then the ends of her Dark red dress that had black silk that out-lined the ends of her dress, as so did Merlin's long purple coat. "Yes I do!" She said as she grinned almost in gloat.
"How do you know two? And still be alive!" Merlin said looking again confused. Gwen turned to look at Merlin face to face, her long angel wing sleeves hanging down as she put her hand on the backing of the stone chair. "See I helped them out once and after that they said they owed me from helping them, something about a dragon code." Gwen said almost as if she didn't care about the code. "One was stuck in a trap for those bounty hunters in the Elkin hills." Merlin cut in "Ah so it was you who spoiled their hunt then." He looked puzzled for a second, "But I thought they said they were attacked form the trees by a black warrior with a silver sword and blue fire that came from his eyes." He paused then looked over at Gwen with one eyebrow raised up. She grinned and looked deep into his green eyes then adjusting them to the light, Merlin leaned in a little as he could see something small shine in her eyes. When he got no more then and three inches from her face her eyes widened and all around the green in her eyes came out a almost blinding blue flame shining form them. Merlin jumped and flew back in shock almost ten feet in the air, Gwen laughed from what she did almost to the point where she was about to fall out of her seat. Gwen tried to say in between laughs "You... should have...seen your face!" Merlin's eyes filled with a yellow light as he raised his hand almost to a point where he wanted to get back at her, but then calmed down not wanting to hurt her. He flew back down and sat next to Gwen who was still laughing. "And you said I could never surprise you?" Merlin fixed his coat and answered, "You can't," knowing what he said was a lie "its just I wasn't... wasn't ready" Gwen smiled "uh-huh I know you say that all the time Merlin" Merlin just looked away "Anyways that was one!" He said trying to get her to finish her laughing and tell about the other. "Oh and the other had her golden ring stolen that a queen had given. She believed it was by a griffin that got into her lair when she was out on a hunt." I found it when I was with Strider the Golden tree Griffin." She took a deep and finished on "So they became my friends after I helped them and said that they would do anything for me, and they have I've seen them every chance I get." Merlin looked at Gwen in disbelief,
"But what makes you think they would give you one of their new born? "I don't know I'll just have to see and tell them about the dream, but something tells me it may work. They believe in the dragon god and they'll help me if I ask, if not I will just have to see." She smiled with a smile so simple but yet so bright that when the suns beams hit the roses red colors, the light would bounce off the flower causing her lips to change to a sweet red. Merlin just had to smile as he looked at her then to his lap then looked back up again. "Well I guess we could try, but if I get me head bitten off I'll blame it all on you." He smiled showing a few of his white teeth with it. Gwen was shocked at what he said, "You're coming with me? Why?" Merlin just looked over at her and sat up straight, even more so then he was before, "I can't just let you go off on your own, you could get hurt, and I just can't let that happen." He said almost in a kidding voice, but now it was all jokes aside as he looked at his knees then looked back at her tilting his head a little too the side. He put his hands on her knee looking deep in her green eyes as his green eyes matched hers, "You're like a daughter to me Gwendolyn and I love you like one, I couldn't live if something happened to you." Merlin said with a loving but serious look on his face. Gwen smiled and leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.
"Thank you Merlin, That means more to me then you will ever know." She smiled as so did he. But his smile fell as he began to say "Umm, you know we'll have to tell the King and Queen about this. Gwen looked displeased, "I know but I don't know how he'll take the idea of me running off to find dragons." Merlin giggled a little then looked over at Gwen. "I think me might take it like your fathers daring humor." He laughed a little and so did Gwen, He put his hand on her chin and lowered her head as he kissed the middle of her forehead. He looked back at her, both of there green eyes were bright from the green color in the leaves and flowers, "Come on Gwen, we will tell him after lunch in the Great Hall." Merlin said as he was standing up, "But now I think you have a lesson to get going to." He made a slight bow, moving one foot in front of him as he leaned into it and held out his hand as he lowered his head then raised it to find Gwen wasn't in the stone chair. "If you say so Sir Merlin I shall join you in your class." Merlin looked up to see Gwen above him still in her seating position looking down at him smiling. Merlin smiled at her, but it changed to a sarcastic grin as he flew up to her level, with his arms and legs crossed; he raised one eyebrow up. "Come on I'll race you!" Gwen said smiled "Not with that dress on your not, it's to heavy," Merlin said smiling as if he had the advantage but that smile fell as Gwendolyn looked over and smiled cunningly as she raised her arms and whispered a chant. Suddenly the skirt of her dress changed into black pant legs with black boots and a long dark red coat. Merlin grinned a little in shock she did listen to one of his lessons but just as he did Gwen kicked off on the tree behind her and smiled as she flew by Merlin "Hey no fair head start!" he lowered his hands to his sides quickly and was behind her in to time heading for the East tower to where there class room dwelled.
Merlin and Gwen after lunch requested to see the King and Queen to tell them about their plans, and to tell them about her dreams. King allowed them to enter and to talk to him in free will. (The king was still good friends with both of them, there was no way he would turn them down) But when the King heard the news he couldn't help but laugh at both of them. But the Queen didn't look too happy with the king at that moment.
Still laughing he replied, "I can understand what you are trying to do Gwendolyn, make me laugh or tell a tall tale. But believe me there is no way to get a grown dragon mother, or even a regular dragon to give you one of their babies, Even if you know the mother." The king paused to take a few breaths from laughing so hard but then resumed. "How is it you came upon these dragons again chilled?" "Like I said your majesties, I helped one out by getting one out of a trap that those bounty hunters set out for her," again she was cut off by the king. "So it was you who spoiled their hunt?" The king asked "Yes sir it was," the king looked puzzled at that remark, "But they said it was a Man wearing all black with blue flames from his eyes." Gwendolyn looked down but raised her head just too where the king could see her smile, and then Merlin put his hand on Gwendolyn's shoulder. The king just grinned and laughed in his throat, "So Merlin has taught you many things with magic?" Gwen smiled and looked at Merlin, "yes he has sir." She looked back at the king and continued on. "And the other dragon I know now sir I helped her get her ring back that a Queen gave her, it was stolen from her lair but the Griffin thief." The Queen looked interested all of a sudden but the words that Gwendolyn had just spoken. "King Edward I need to do this my lord, the dragon god told..." Gwendolyn was cut off once again, "Dragon god?" The king Laughed once again at Gwen's words, "You believe in that kind of thing my dear?" the king laughed yet again "I'm sorry my child but how can you believe in that? The dragon gods are no more then a fairy tail myth. There not all loving and kind as people all clam to be, Dragons are mean, ruthless, they always kill people for sport, they'll eat you right on the stop if there hungry.
"No they won't Edward." The Queen sat up and looked disappointed in her king from the words he said. "How could you say that? My dear Gwendolyn I was the one who gave the dragon the ring. It was a gift to her for saving my life on the cliffs of the kingdom one night." Gwen looked surprised, "Your majesty's I need..." she paused to regain her words "I have to do this, I had a dream from Draco the dragon god to do this and something within me tells me I must." All Gwendolyn could do at this point was look at the King Edward and Queen Eleanor with eyes so deep into all she was saying, as if her heart was being pored out of every word. The King sighed and rested his arm on the lift arm of his chair covering his eyes with his hand and slowly moving it down to his chin. He could do nothing but look to the ground in such confusion; He didn't know what to do about this request from Gwendolyn to leave the castle on this (what somewhat seemed to be) a childish quest.
He had kept Gwendolyn close to him, almost like a daughter to his eyes. He did not wish to see any harm come upon her, nor did he wish she leave on reasons of a dream, that for all he knew was just a dream that had no meaning. He raised his eyes to meet Gwendolyn's, then Merlin, and then back to Gwen. He saw something in her eyes that shocked him as something quite familiar. He looked deep into her eyes, deeper then he ever had before. All he could do was grin and looked back to the ground, then back at Gwendolyn with one eyebrow cocked. The Queen has seen that look before but yet she could not remember where, before she got the chance to ask the king spoke "If you were to go on your quest, you could not possibly do it alone." The king shock Gwen and Merlin and yet even the Queen with his remark. But Gwen regained her normal face and before she could say anything Merlin stepped forward.
"I know your majesty. I will travel with her; I would never let her go alone." Merlin looked over at Gwen and made a slight smile, Gwen returning the smile Merlin then looked back at the king with all seriousness, "That is if your highness would be so kind as to release me from your side as being your majesties sorcerer?" The yet again looked puzzled and yet resistant to say anything to both of them, but as he looked at both of them something inside him wanted to let them go. As if he was lead to but by what? "Yes," he said in a sad yet content voice "You may accompany the lady Gwendolyn." Gwen smiled and kneeled to one knee and lowered her head "Thank you your majesties, thank you ever so much." The king sat straight up, "I will let you go Gwendolyn Helts, if you could do one thing." Gwendolyn raised her head, "Yes your majesty?" the king arose and toke one step down from his chair, "If you can bring back one, at least one dragon back with you that will obey your every command." He toke 3 more steps and was now almost eye level with Gwendolyn "I shall knight you, and give you back your land that has been so unrightfully taken from you, all this and more shall be granted to you if you could just bring back at the least one dragon.
Gwen looked at the King in shock, but this shock wasn't from happiness, it was from discomfort. "I do not wish for all this your majesty; all I wish to do is to fallow what my dream has told me." The king seemed as if he didn't care she didn't want it. "I wish for you to have this if you do return. You chose to disgrace me in not tasking this offer?" Gwen lowered her head to answer, "No sir, I shall take your very generous offer." She said taking a slight bow. King Edward, knowing Gwendolyn didn't mean to sound like he was upset, but he felt that he must offer this to her. She never asked of anything for herself, and this was the one time he felt lead to do this for her. "Very well Gwendolyn Helts, you shall take this quest of yours," King Edward cupped Gwen's chin and raised Gwen's head to meet his eyes once more and told her in a voice that only she and Merlin could hear. "And I hope you return for what your heart has been searching for." King Edward smiled in not a Kings mighty glory smile, but that of a kind hearted old man that set Gwen's mind at ease.
He turned them away and by no time the great hall was empty, nothing but the king and queen and 5 of his noble knights in the Hall. King Edward sat in his chair with a smile on his face but when he saw Queen Eleanor's grin he turned away and looked as if he was an old grouch grunting as he looked to a window. But Queen Eleanor knew better then to buy that acted and leaned over "So!" King Edward looked over at her, she was still smiling. "Do you believe it was the wrong decision to let her on this quest?" He stared at her but he knew that wasn't what she was asking, He let out a long sigh and put his arm on the arm of his chair once again and put his hand on his chin. "I saw that way you looked at Lady Gwendolyn when she said she needed to do this," she trailed off for a moment to see if he would answer before she had to ask. He still looked at the ground as he did before so she asked. "What were you thinking then Edward?"
He looked to Queen Eleanor and sighed and looked away to his feet and laughed in his throat, then looked back at his Queen. "Because when I looked in her eyes, she reminded me of someone." Queen Eleanor, still smiling answered, "Sir Samuel no doubt?" He grinned and as looked away letting out a long sigh, looking through the large rose window over looking the sea he muttered to himself but yet to where Queen Eleanor could hear, " Very much like Sir Samuel."
The next morning she sat with Merlin in the garden; that was the best places to talk, it always made Gwen feel at peace with all the different flowers and sweet smell.
