Running Away
Chapter 4: A Whole New Town

***************Yuffie's POV**************
I was on my blue gummi ship, passing through the nine planets of Earth's galaxy. Ahead of me, I saw the swirling blue and purple warphole that entranced me. I kicked the ship into high gear, and rammed right through the warphole to come through on the other side.
Just an hour ago, I left my apartment. I left a note for Lauren that I had to move back to my old home so I'll be able to live a better life. I thanked her for everything too. In a way, my note was a lie, and the truth.
I just passed the beautiful Destiny Islands, and could see in the distance, Traverse Town. My ship wouldn't go any faster so I just waited patiently.
When I came in front of the Town, I saw something new. I guess they must have built the fourth district because I could see another district, connected to the third, and it had tall buildings in it. I parked my ship, and opened the large doors into the Town.
As soon as I entered, excitement took me. I was home again. I stood there, with my suitcase in my hand, and I looked around. I could tell that my eyes were sparkling against the light that the curved lampposts gave off.
I started walking past the Accessory Shop, and I went through the doors of the second district. As soon as I entered, I found that the place was empty, except for a couple walking together by the water fountain that pictured the bell.
I walked over to the Hotel, and went through the doors. Then my heart stopped, and so did I. I crept quietly by the green Room. I of course didn't want Squall to come out and find me. I'm not ready yet. So I tiptoed across, and got the key to the Red Room. I kept the key with me, just in case.
I walked in, smiling. I dropped my suitcase, and it made thump as it landed on the red carpet. I ran and jumped on my bed. I started acting like my old sixteen year-old self, and was jumping on the bed like a little kid.
As soon as I got tired, I lay on my bed, looking at the ceiling. It felt good to be back. But I know that chaos will soon break out for me. I know that soon enough, I'll have to face Squall again.
I sat up, and walked out to my balcony. The alley wind blew my hair into the air. I leaned against the balcony wall, and looked out.
Near me was the entrance to the Secret waterway. I smiled, good memories in that place.
My head automatically turned left onto Squall's balcony. I quickly turned my head around, and smiling, I jumped off the balcony and onto the ground. Then I walked through the entranceway to the Secret Waterway. I swam through the water quietly.
I enjoy having the cold water rush through my clothes. I swam quietly to the rocks, but something stopped me.
I quickly went under water, and right up to the side of the white rocks. I kept my head low, and then peeked over. My eyes widened,
It was Squall.
He had his gunblade and was probably practicing his aiming. But why? I mean, the heartless are all gone, aren't they?
But I wasn't paying attention just to the blade. My most attention was on him. He had certainly grown taller, and it looked like he had grown more muscles over the past three years. I smiled to myself. His hair was still the same, and I immediately recognized those dark blue eyes.
Maybe I was breathing too loud, but Squall turned his head to my direction. I quickly ducked and got quietly into the water. I swam under the water to the picture of the moon. Once I knew I was hidden, I peeked my head up, and saw Squall standing right above where I was, looking down. I sighed mentally in my head, and waited for him to turn around. He did, and began practicing. So, I decided to swim out.
As soon as I got out, I took a deep breath. That sure was close.
Getting bored, I started walking toward the fourth district. I want to know what it looks like now. So I walked into the third district. I saw a few people walking, and saw a large door to the far side, by the right of the flame door.
I walked over to it. Actually I ran because I was excited. As soon as I pushed those large doors open, I gasped.
The fourth district was...amazing! It was like one large street that went on for mile. It had sidewalks, and on each sidewalk, buildings that were around 5-story's high rose. People crowded the street, and I could hear laughter and talking echoing throughout the buildings.
I walked along the street, smiling. This street was kind of like Earth! I walked along, looking at each building. There were around a dozen large Hotels, lots of clothing stores, food restaurants, and even different clubs.
Ahead of me, was a large water fountain. My feet were getting tired, so I went and sat on it. I playfully splashed my hand through the water, and I saw munny on the bottom of it. Then I took my hand out, and looked at all the happy faces.
Then I saw two people. Oh god, it thought, as Aerith and Cloud were walking my way. I stood up, and quickly ran to the nearest building.
I ran through the doors, and found myself in a club. I quickly looked around, and sat at a table. My head was in my hands as I looked at the blue table, with my eyes closed.
I can't do this.
***********Squall's POV*************
I walked along the third district, heading towards the doors of the fourth. I had just finished my practicing, and decided to find Aerith and Cloud. Knowing Aerith, she would probably have Cloud walking down the streets of the fourth district.
As I walked through, I grunted. Traverse Town was so different now than the peace and quiet one.
I nudged past people through the streets. I kept my head high, trying to find the blonde spikes. I finally saw them, some way down the street. I came up to them, and Aerith and Cloud were looking around, standing, to see where to go.
Noticing me standing there, Aerith looked up smiling. "Hey Leon, know anywhere to go?" she asked me.
"No" was all I said, standing there with my arms crossed. Aerith made a little frown and turned her head in all directions. "Look!" she said pointing to a club. "Let's go there, we haven't been there yet." Aerith started walking towards it. Cloud looked at me, and then followed Aerith. I sighed, and followed them anyway.
We walked into the club, and I could hear music being played. People were out on the floor dancing.
I saw Aerith and cloud at a close table, and went and sat next to them. I looked around, trying to get familiar with the place. Then something took my eye.
In a corner table was a person. She had her head in her hands and was looking down. Forgetting her, I turned my attention back to Aerith and Cloud. But my head wanted to keep turning to look at her. It's not like I know her, I thought.
Then a slow song came on, and Cloud took Aerith to the dance floor. I just sat at my seat with my arms crossed.
As soon as the song ended, Aerith and cloud stayed out there, while a man came onto a little platform that they called a stage.
"Hey, hey, hey people!" he called with his arms in the air, trying to get the noise down. When everyone was quiet, he said, "Since you should all know, that every night, we allow people to come up and sing! So anyone who wants to come up and sing, feel free to do so!"
I grunted, great. Now I get to listen to people make a fool of themselves.
*************Yuffie's POV***********
I lifted my head up w from my hands when the guy said about people singing. Smiling to myself, I got up and walked over to a line.
People started singing into the microphone without music. Traverse Town wasn't the town to make music; they just had instrumental music and no singing...yet.
One person, I laughed at. He was so bad; I think he just went up there to sing for fun. Some people sang bad, and some good. I wasn't really paying attention. Just thinking about the song that I was going to sing.
When it was my turn, some guy asked me what my name was. I told him, and he went up to the microphone. "Annnnddddd, here's Yuffie!" he said, and he backed away, leaving me to walk up to the stage.
**********Leon's POV***********
My head perked up, like a bold of lightning. Did he just say 'Yuffie'? I stood up, and looked over the heads of everybody that gathered around the stage.
Shit. It was her.
My eye's widened.
************Yuffie's POV***************
I took a deep breath and stood up by the microphone, smiling. I decided to sing a Michelle Branch song again, called Finding your way back.
I used to get away with so much

I even thought that it was simple

I finished, and looked into the crowd. Everybody was cheering for me. I smiled, and put the microphone back into the holder. As soon as I started walking, I saw Squall in the crowd. Then I saw Aerith and Cloud.
My eyes widened.
Oh shoot.
I walked off of the stage, and ran out the door. My heart was beating fast. No, no, no, I kept saying to myself. This can't be happening.
And I ran out of the fourth district.
