Running Away
Chapter 5: Where've You Been?
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
*********Squall's POV***********
I ran out the door, looking around the street. Yuffie had run out here, but why did she run? I looked around eagerly, finally seeing the young girl running towards the district door.
I ran after her, pushing through people on my way. I didn't care; I just need to see Yuffie. I can't believe she actually is here! I thought she'd be gone forever.
She pushed through the large doors, and I ran through them right after she did. I ran down to the main ground, and saw her running towards the first district door. She already was through when I started running again. As I ran through the door, she was running up the steps and past the accessory shop. I ran quickly towards her.
Man she runs fast, I thought. But inside me, I grinned. She's not fast enough.
I was soon catching up to her, and she ran through the dark alleyway, and through the wooden fence that was broken by Sora. I ran through the fence, and I saw her climb up the large crates that blocked the alleyway to the first district. I climbed up too, and saw her run off.
Why was she running?
"Yuffie!" I called. I heard her say something I couldn't hear and saw her shake her head. She started running past the Red Room's balcony. She kept running, obviously not remembering how this alley is set up.
She kept running until she got to the dead end at the end of this alleyway. She was about to run away from me again, or try to slip by me. But I caught her arm, and pulled her to me.
I held both of her arms so she wouldn't be able to move. Her face was red, along with her eyes. Tears were coming down, and she was sniffing uncontrollably. But beyond that, I saw that she had gotten taller, and more beautiful.
She tried to get out of my tough grasp, but she could hardly move. "Yuffie, stop." I ordered, she did that, but turned her head to the side, not looking at me.
My head was full of questions, ready to ask. I could feel my heart pumping faster and faster by the second, and I didn't realize that my quick heart pumps were not from my running.
"Yuffie," I said, not knowing what to say. My voice, I could tell, was emotionless.
She turned her head and looked at me. We didn't say anything for a few minutes, just looked into each other's eyes.
"I'm sorry," She whispered looking away.
"For what?"
Yuffie sighed, "For, well, going away like that." She still wasn't looking me in the eye.
My grasp on her arms loosened a little, and she didn't try to run away. "Why did you go?" I asked.
"Because-because I needed some alone time, that's all. I couldn't get it here, so I went to a different planet." Her tears stopped coming, and she wasn't sniffling as much.
We stood there for a few seconds, not knowing what to do. Then suddenly, Yuffie looked at me, then she flew into my arms. She had her arms around my neck, and her face in my shoulder. I returned the hug by putting my arms around her waist.
***********Yuffie's POV***********
I hugged him, and I didn't expect him o hug me back! I mean, he's always the one to remain emotionless, kind of. Did he change while I was away?
With his arms around me, I felt as safe as ever. Knowing that I never wanted to leave this spot, I did by backing away a little.
"Why did you run?" he asked me when we pulled away.
How do I tell him? What do I tell him? Well, I'm bad at lying, so I might as well tell him the truth. "I, well, I just wasn't ready to see you guys again."
I looked away, not wanting him to meet my eyes. Why is this so awkward to me? And why was Squall acting so...nice? I would've thought that he'd be yelling at me for running away or something like that. Instead, he seems like a whole new man, except he looks the same.
Squall came up to me, and took hold on my arm. "Come on, I know Cloud and Aerith would be glad to see you." He smiled, strangely, and I walked next to him.
As we walked, I couldn't help but feel safe next to him. Liking this feeling, I walked close to him, our hands almost touching. But I pretended nothing was happening.
Squall led us to the Green Room. I looked at him, puzzled. "I told them to be waiting here," Squall said as soon as he saw my look. He knocked on the door, and then opened it. Cloud and Aerith were sitting on the bed next to each other. As soon as I entered, Aerith shot up from the bed, and ran up to me. She hugged me, and I smiled at her embrace.
"Yuffie, you're back!" she said while we hugged. I returned the hug, and we soon pulled away. Cloud came up to me and gave me a quick hug, and I smiled. (A/N: I don't really know how Cloud should act, sorry.)
"Where have you been?" Aerith practically yelled. I smiled and told her about finding the warp hole and going to this planet Earth.
I told her, Cloud, and Squall about Earth. They were pretty amazed, and Aerith kept asking me questions. When I was done, I told them I wanted to walk around a bit, and I walked into the Secret Waterway.
I walked onto the green and gray rocks, and sat down. I lay back, with my ankles crossed. My head was in my arms, as I felt the cold rock on my back. I smiled and looked at the ceiling.
In a way, I was happy. I was back to my real home, and my friends had greeted me. None of them were mad at me or anything.
I then frowned. But they could ask me why I had left. I sighed. I'm a horrible liar. If I tried, I would turn red, and I would be slightly shaking. And everybody could tell I was lying. I don't want to tell them about me overhearing Squall and Cloud that one day three years ago.

Sorry this chapter was short. Honestly, I didn't' know what to put in this chapter.
The wall is coming closer to me; I can see it far away.
This is what happens to me and all of my writing. I always think of some idea, but I only know the beginning and the end of the story. I never know of the middle. So I always make the middle up along the way until I reach the end. It ALWAYS happens to me.
REVIEW! I LOVE all the reviews that I've got!
Next Chapter: Aerith talks to Yuffie, and finds out why Yuffie left AND Yuffie's true feelings for Squall.
