Powers: Jake's mutant physiology allows him to use his mouth and throat like a flamethrower, and to fly. However, it has also been revealed that Jake can transform into a dragon if enraged enough. In this "Dragon Mode", as he dubbed it, Jake's powers are intensified, he gains a measure of invulnerability, superhuman strength and speed, and he becomes more aggressive (Also, it's believed in this form that Jake unlocks more powers that are like those of the Incredible Hulk: An accelerated healing factor and his raw power increases the more he fights. Jake does retain his intelligence and personality in his Dragon Mode, he just becomes more aggressive and hot-tempered).

When Frost sent out Jake and Fox to spy on the X-Men and Misfits, she unleashed Draconis when the two groups were aiding the Avengers fight off a Hellion ambush. Draconis easily conquered Jake and then easily decimated the X-Men, Misfits, and Avengers! However, Emma underestimated Draconis. He believed he was the mightiest mutant alive, and all other mutants were inferior and should be destroyed. He also attacked the Hellions. Luckily, Jean Grey, Foxfire, and Wildstar managed to help Jake fight Draconis in his mind. Jake literally threw Draconis out of his mind. Incensed, Fox left the Hellions and joined the X-Men. Jake stayed with the Misfits as an unofficial member. Draconis was last seen in the service of Selene, the Hellfire Club's Black Queen, who evidently used her sorcery to create a body for him. No one knows what's going on with them, but Selene may want Draconis to help her obtain the magical guitar of the Avenger Kid Razor. Selene believes she can conquer the world with the mystical power in Razor's guitar.

"What's wrong Hardcase BY THE GREAT SPIRIT!!!" John nearly had a heart attack at the sight of Hardcase's hair. Terrell burst out laughing.
"Nice hair, brother!" Terrell laughed. "Going for the 80s rocker look? Ace can help you get the appropriate clothes for it!"
"Mason, I know that you had something to do with this!" He snapped, pointing at his head.
"Why are you blaming me? Because I'm black?!" Terrell snapped. John rolled his eyes and sighed in annoyance.
"Here he goes again." He muttered under his breath. "Terrell, don't be a knucklehead and give me a hand here!"
"He's blaming me because I'm black!" Terrell exclaimed at John, pointing at Hardcase. John grumbled and crossed his arms.
"Then why isn't he accusing Stretcher or Hardball, Terrell? They're black." John replied, referring to two other members of the Malibu Joe team. Stretcher was a Hartford, Connecticut-born Army Sergeant named Thomas J. Larivee. A trained medic, he was the chief medic of Malibu Base. Hardball's real name was Wilmer S. Duggleby, an Army Sergeant. Appropriately enough, he was born in Cooperstown, New York. He was a former minor league baseball player who had a talent for throwing fastballs and grenades. Terrell blinked.
"Good point." He noted.
"Now knock it off and give me a hand." John grumbled, picking up some more garbage. "What made you think Terrell did it, Hardcase?"
"Because I found this!" Hardcase held a bead necklace of African design.
"Hey, I was looking for that!" Terrell took back the necklace. "It disappeared this morning!"
"Ah-ha!" Hardcase whooped. "I knew it."
"BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Laughing erupted from a closet.
"What the?" Hardcase walked up to the closet and opened it. Inside was a laughing Jester, Malibu Base's practical joker, and Hardcase's mortal enemy. "YOU!!!!"
"Oh man, that was rich!" Jester laughed. "Man, if only I could've seen your face!"
"I SHOULD'VE KNOWN!!!!" Hardcase roared.
"Hey Terrell, sorry about the necklace, I was in need of a scapegoat!" Jester laughed.
"Oh ha ha." Terrell grumbled, pouting.
"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!" Hardcase cocked back his fist and threw it.
"Yipe!" Jester ducked, causing Hardcase to punch the door frame. While he screamed in pain, Jester shoved past him and ran out the door, a cursing Hardcase hot on his trail.
"Hoo boy!" Terrell groaned. Suddenly, he heard his and John's Joe-Com watches beep. "Yo, talk to us!"
"Kids, you're needed!" Whithalf said. Terrell grabbed John and raced to General Whithalf's office. Once there, he noticed Whithalf, Trojan, the West Coast Misfits, and Shark Man gathered around a television.
"What's going on?" John asked.
"Look." X23 pointed at the TV. John noticed she had on a version of Wolverine's old tan-and-black costume, only the mask allowed her hair to breathe, and the black was replaced with yellow.
"What happened to the costume Ace gave you?" John wondered.
"Sunfire and Thunderbolt arguing happened, that's what." X23 replied, glaring at the two.
"Hey, the Thunderbolt said he was sorry!" Kyle snapped.
"Look X23, not a lot frightens me, but even I'm starting to get creeped out by that glare." Toshiro gulped.
"Just be lucky 'Daddy' let me have his old costume. Kicker got her hands on it first, though, and fixed it up for me." X23 replied with a bit of a snarl.
"Police are in a bind, as Nick's Arcade, a popular teenage hangout spot, was trashed by what could possibly be five mutants. However, they referred to the police as 'Earthlings', leading some to believe they're aliens, and most to believe they're just plain nuts!" Trojan switched off the TV.
"We don't know much about them, kids. They may be mutants, or they may be aliens as they claim. We need you to find out what they're up to. We're not completely clear on their powers." Trojan said.
"Don't matter in the least! The Thunderbolt'll whoop 'em all!" Kyle chuckled.
"I dunno, Kyle. They seem tough." Ali gulped.
