Chapter 1: Family Comes First

"Mommy? Daddy? Where are you? I'm scared..."

That day, Kagome was lost wondering where she was, what was out there, when she got here (wherever 'here' was), and most importantly, who was alive.

~!!@!!~

"Kagome! Look out!"

Horseflies from every direction headed toward her. Kagome's arms moved quicker than her feet as they covered her eyes for protection.

"So this is how you protect yourself," Inuyasha chuckled, as he sliced every horsefly in sight, "don't thank me, it's all in a days work."

Her feet stumbled as she got up. But after a couple of steps she was back to normal, her feet anyway. Her mind was in another dimension, which isn't just a phrase anymore. She took a couple of more steps and slowly replayed what had happened just a few minutes ago in her head. As she was doing this, Inuyasha had continued his little triumphant speech to himself.

"I don't feel so good, I think I'm going to head home early. I don't think it's that hard to find the jewel without me. But if you can't, I'd be happy help out." Her voice was a little shaky but as she continued talking it smoothed out. "So do you need my help or what?"

"Need you? Please! I could do this with my hands tied behind my back! Go home for all I care!"

"Are you two fighting again? When will it end?" Shippo interrupted as he looked up the sky and mouthed a couple of words that seemed the say, ' Not again!'

"Don't worry it just did!"

Kagome marched up to the hole and with her goodbyes she jumped inside. As she was going through time, her stomach started to feel queasy. Although, that normal to her, since she had gone through the well often.

"Kagome? Is that you?" The familiar voice came from the kitchen and Kagome followed with joy.

"Yes, grandpa it me. How you've been? Did you take your medicine?"

"Yes, yes, yes. Why do you always ask that whenever you see me? Your sound just like your moth-"

Kagome ran to her room before the sentence was finished.

"I have some homework to do grandpa. I'll be down in an hour."

"* Sigh * things will never change..." he murmured to himself sadly.

Kagome closed her door and ran to her bed. The tears had started to pour down, and her heart slowly rip apart.
