Patricia Pellinet was an interesting girl. She had blue eyes, blond hair,
and a whole lot of charisma. She was known to be, by all of her friends,
one of the most energetic and fun-loving people.
One afternoon, Patricia came home to find her mother sitting at the dining room table. Patricia loved her mom very much, so she gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"Hi mom!" said Patricia, "I'm going to go upstairs and do my homework."
Patricia raced away, but to her surprise, her mom stopped her.
"Honey, we got something interesting in the mail today." Her mother said.
Suddenly, Patricia remembered that report cards had come out. Now, Patricia may be fun loving, but she wasn't the greatest student. If anyone were to ask her, she would just reply, "I just can't concentrate and the teachers are so hard." But, in her mom's world, there were no excuses for bad grades. Patricia knew she was in trouble.
"2 C's in English and History?" her mom replied bewildered.
"Mom, ..i..it..It...it's not what it seems, I tried hard and I was doing so well on the homework...I don't know what's wrong with me!" Patricia could hardly believe herself. She had never done that badly.
"You are so grounded, no TV, no phone, no computer, and you are to stay in your room all of the time except for meals and school." Replied her mom practically shouted.
Now, Patricia loved her mom, but her mom had a very short temper when it came to grades and excuses. But, as every girl does, Patricia thought her mom was overreacting big time. So, she ran out of the house and went to her best friend's house. The next day, Patricia decided that she would try to go work things out with her mom. She didn't know how she would, but she really wanted to.
But then, the strangest thing happened. An owl, sort of short and ugly, flew in and ran right into Patricia. Her initial reaction would have been to scream, but she was so surprised that she just opened her mouth up with no sound coming out. Then, just as she was about to run to get some help, she noticed a letter addresses to her.
It was from somewhere called Hogwarts. She opened it up, and was surprised to find out what was revealed. It was a letter congratulating her on her acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She didn't understand anything. She was confused. She had never even heard of it before.
"Wow...this is a shocker!" she said out loud
