Dragon Master VS. King of Darkness
Ok, onto chapter three where I will finally put up the first match. The first match of the first round will be between Seto Kaiba and Bakura Ryu. My thanks to Hellfilled_orchidz and Eternityrequiem for being the duelists for these too. So once again, I don't own Yugioh nor do I own the Yugioh Virtual Desktop, I'm making no money off this, and if anything I've realized I'm a horrible duelist myself.
The morning of the next day was nearly as tense and still as the previous morning. The soft morning light that entered the windows of the building brought each duelist slowly out of their sleep, except for Bonz, who had blocked the windows of his room to avoid the sunlight. Yugi, Joey, Tea, and Mai had gone down to the cafeteria for breakfast. "Kaiba may be stuck up, but at least he spares no expense when it comes to Duel Monsters, the food budget included," commented Mai, as she watched Joey fill a tray with enough food to feed an army on a holiday. The four of them sat down, at started to eat, exchanging small talk, as they watched the others slowly make their way into the cafeteria. Rex was the first one to arrive after them, obviously still half asleep. Espa Roba and Mako both showed at the same time, but all three of them sat tables away from each other. An hour passed, and on Joey fourth trip back, Yugi noticed something. "Where are Marik, Weevil, Bakura, and Kaiba? They should have been here by now," he muttered, confused. "Well, knowing Kaiba, I bet he was too good to eat with the rest of us," grumbled Joey through mouthfuls of food. "Gee, I can't imagine why he'd think that," mumbled Tea. "Weevil is probably off trying to think of some way to cheat his way into the finals. Marik, well, lets just say I'm not to disappointed about not seeing him. And Bonz, well he's eating breakfast in his room. Said the Cafeteria was too bright," commented Mai. Yugi nodded, but still looked concerned. " Yeah, but what about Bakura?"
Bakura sat up alone in his room, the soft morning light washing over him, as he looked out the window, looking over his cards. Dueling with Yugi and Joey all the time, he knew what it took to make a deck that would put up a fight, but in the first round, he had to some how find a way to defeat Seto Kaiba. That's when the voice he had spent so long trying to ignore spoke up. His dark side wanted to put his two cents. " You know you can't win your just not duelist enough to handle Kaiba. Let me handle this. If we defeat Kaiba, we stand a good chance of facing Yugi, and we can finally get our hands on his Millennium Puzzle!" Bakura held his head, grimacing in what seemed to be great pain. "NO! You will not harm Yugi or his friends or anyone here. I won't let you. You know you can't control me, your battle with Marik and Yugi in Battle City has left you too weak to force yourself into my mind." This brought a soft laugh from deep within Bakura's mind, a laugh of pure evil. "True, but have it your way. When Kaiba wipes the floor with you, we'll see who's the weak one. You'll beg for my help."
After breakfast, Yugi and the others in the cafeteria assembled in the room where the matches were first set, only to see that only Seto and Bakura's faces were on the screen. Minutes later, Bonz and Weevil entered, both standing to the back. Marik came in last, actually taking a seat next to Yugi. "Did I miss anything?" he asked, looking at the screen. While it was hard to forget the past, Yugi couldn't sense any evil from Marik, so he didn't feel uncomfortable. "Nope, guess we're waiting for Bakura and Kaiba to show now." With this, Zachary entered the room, wearing the usual pair of black shades that the judges seemed to wear. "Now that you're all here, the match will begin!" Yugi looked confused, but it was Joey who jumped up first. "What do you mean? The two main guys aren't even here yet!" he yelled. The judge's face didn't even flinch at this. "They have been taken to their duel site already. You all will witness the match from the screen here. Now, on with the match!"
Bakura's stomach was nearly in his throat, not too pleased with the chosen duel site. They were at the Domino City Race Track. On the top level of a British Double Decker Bus, cleared out enough for the duel. Not to mention, for the duration of the duel, the bus would be speeding around the track. Both duelists' feet had been clamped down to avoid them from being thrown from the perch. "The first round match of the Championship will be Seto Kaiba against Bakura Ryu. Shuffle your decks and duel!" Kaiba grinned as he shuffled his deck, eyeing Bakura. "Since you lost the coin toss, I go first" exclaimed Kaiba, drawing his five cards along with Bakura, and then drawing. "Suit yourself," grumbled Bakura, trying to sound as confident as his other self always seemed to be in a duel. "To start this match, I play Pot of Greed, allowing me to draw two extra cards!" Kaiba drew his two cards, then discarding Pot of Greed to the graveyard. "First I'll put a card face down. Now I play the mighty Gemini Elf in attack mode, and end my turn."
Bakura couldn't believe his eyes. On his first turn, Kaiba had set down one of the strongest four-star monsters of Duel Monsters. He was already in trouble, and it was just now his turn. Bakura took a deep breath, and drew his sixth card. "For my first move, I place two cards face down, then a monster in face down defense mode. I'll end my turn here." Back on the screen in the Kaiba Corp. building, everyone saw that both Kaiba and Bakura had their 8000 life points intact. "Man, Kaiba's already got Bakura pinned down," mumbled Joey. Back at the duel site, Kaiba was beside himself, drawing his next card. "My second turn, and already your cowering. This match will be simple. Now, Gemini Elf, attack his face down card!" With that, the holographic image of Gemini Elf fired a bright beam towards the card, which revealed it to be Mask of Darkness, destroying its image, with Bakura discarding it to the graveyard. "With that, I end my turn." Bakura gritted his teeth, grateful that Kaiba hadn't drawn a second monster, leaving his life points unharmed. Bakura drew his next card. "I play the Spell card, Monster Reborn, bringing back my Mask of Darkness, but he won't be here long. I discard both him and Monster Reborn to the graveyard, and I summon the all powerful fiend, Summoned Skull!" With that, the image of Mask of Darkness disappeared, only to have the image of the Summoned Skull appear in an eruption of lightening. "He's plenty strong enough to handle your Elf, but it never hurts to power up your monsters, and I'll do so with this, the equip spell card, Axe of Despair, increasing his attack by 1,000!" Kaiba grinned, flipping over his face down card. "I play a Trap Card, Spell Shield Type 8, destroying your Axe of Despair." Bakura growled, discarding his Axe of Despair while Kaiba discarded his trap. Fine then, Summoned Skull, blow away his Gemini Elf!" With that, the Summoned Skull sent out a mighty blast of lightening, destroying the Gemini Elf. Kaiba put the card in the graveyard, watching as the life point counter on his Duel Disk dropped 600 points.
Back in the viewing room, Joey, Mai, Tea, Yugi, and Marik cheered on Bakura. "That's the way to put Kaiba in his place! Bakura's got all 8000 of his life points, and Kaiba's down to 7400!" crowed Joey. Yugi nodded. "It was a good move, but remember, there's a lot of the duel left." Back at the duel site, Kaiba hadn't even flinched from his loss. "You think that matters, just you wait." Kaiba drew, and grinned. "Say good bye to your Summoned Skull, for I play Dark Hole, a spell card that wipes all monsters off the field, sending them straight to the graveyard." A large black hole appeared over the field. "Not so fast Kaiba, for I play a trade card of my own, Solemn Judgement, canceling out your card for the cost of half my life points." With that the black hole disappeared, both duelists discarding their cards, but Bakura looking a bit grim as his life points went down from 8000, to 4000, giving Kaiba a commanding lead. "That was a bad move, and I'll show you why, for I play the mighty spell card, Raigeki! Your Summoned Skull will be destroyed by the mighty thunder bolt of destruction!" With that, a giant bolt of lightening struck Summoned Skull, destroying it. "Now I'll play my powerful Spear Dragon in attack mode. To end this, I play Monster Reborn, bringing back your Summoned Skull, but under my control now." With that both the Spear Dragon and Summoned Skull appeared on Kaiba's side of the field. Bakura eyes widened, knowing this was it. "Now my two monsters, ATTACK AND FINSIH HIM OFF!" With that, the Summoned Skull and Spear Dragon sent out a combined attack of lightening, the blast striking Bakura straight in the chest, knocking him back, the only thing keeping him from falling off the bus being the clamps on his feet. Bakura sat up, looking at his Duel Disk, watching his life points drop to zero.
Back at the building, there was a hushed silence, as they watched the feed of Bakura's defeat. After that, the screen faded to black, as the judge Zachary stepped forward. "There you have it folks, the winner of the first match in the first round is Seto Kaiba. He will advance to the winners' bracket of round two, while Bakura will be in the loser's bracket. Now, you may head back to your rooms if you wish. Lunch will be served in an hour. After words, the second match of the day will be Bonz against Weevil Underwood. Both duelists will be transported to the dueling site soon after lunch. Good luck to the rest of you on your future duels."
