This is where my story really kicks off... and who could have Evo Verse without Psylock? In this one I'm trying my hardest not to make her like Jean or what I think of as the 'telepathic stereotype' But she's sophisticated and I guess I'll loosen her up further into the story. And what is Emma Frost up to? Well you'll have to wait to find out! Yeah, yeah... so I haven't actually figured it out yet. Minor details!

Chapter 4: First Impressions

****

Betsy Braddock followed Ms Frost down the hall. She had a tall figure, Asian. It wasn't hard to see why she had been a model in England for the past few years. Now her mentor, Emma Frost had decided to relocate her to some town near New York where she would be the leader of a new group.

Pausing, the older woman turnt around silently observing Betsy. "I've trained you well Miss Braddock, now here comes the responsibility I've been caring for you for all these years. The girls in this room I've gathered aren't very... experienced. But I have full faith that you will be able to turn them into a worthy band of warriors."

Nodding, Betsy shifted into a pose similar to Emma's speaking in the same clip British accent. "Of course, Miss Frost. I'll try my best."

With that, Emma opened up the double oak doors and motioned for her to go inside.

Drawing a quick breath, Betsy walked in and glanced around the room as the doors closed with a click behind her. The room was silent as she glanced around at the occupants.

Sitting on the leg of an armchair in a laid back way was a girl chewing slowly on a chunk of gum, a baseball cap pulled firmly down so that the bill covered her eyes, her short brown-blonde pony tail pulled through the back. She wore a simple blue hooded jacket, the zipper open down the middle revealing the white tank shirt she wore. Betsy tightened her lips at the faded pair of jeans and scruffy sneakers she wore.

Sitting in the second couch was the next girl. Or rather sitting on the edge, hands clasped nervously in front as she jiggled her right leg in a nervous way. Her long blonde hip length hair hang down over her shoulders. Her light blue eyes darted around the room as she bit her lip. She wore a long sleeved pink shirt with a low neck and a denim mini skirt, black thongs sitting at the foot of the couch by her. Small silver hoops hang from her ears and a silver chain with a letter small letter A adorned her neck.

Feeling even more uneasy, Betsy's eyes moved to the last figure in the room. She was leaning against the wall, her arms crossed in front of her chest as she glared at almost everything in the room. Everything about her screamed 'rebel' from her boyish hot pink hair to the row of silver sleeper up the ridge of her left ear. Rolling her tongue ring around in her mouth, the girl shifted her glaring at Betsy.

Betsy however wasn't at all phased by this and continued her evaluation. Baggy black hipsters, black fingerless gloves and black tank top. Betsy frowned as she heard the unmistakable projection of thoughts in her head.

*Oh God, why am I here? They all look so... scary.*

*Damn this is boring. I thought we'd be havin' a lot more fun then sittin' around.*

*What's she looking at? Bloody prep. Give her something to look at in a minute.*

Pressing her fingers to her temples in a failed attempt to stop the voices, she sighed and addressed them all. "You should all know by now, I'm Elisabeth Braddock also known as Psylocke in the field, you can call me Betsy if you wish. I'm a telepath like Ms Frost. You've been briefed by Emma about why you're here?"

Several incoherent mumbles filled the room. Sighing, she tried again. "Well let's start introducing ourselves. We'll start with... you?" She motioned to the nervous girl. Judging by the looks of her she'd be the most willing to talk about herself first.

Swallowing, she forced a smile. "Um, I'm Alison Blaire... Or uh, Ali. I'm meant to be called Dazzler or something for the code name thingy." Pausing, she glanced across the room. "I can manipulate light, it's not much but I should be able to do some pretty cool things if I'm trained properly."

"Thingy?" The pink haired girl echoed with a look of disgust on her face. "What are you meant to be? A ditz? If I knew I was gonna be stuck with a bunch of preps, I wouldn't have come to this place."

Ali slowly flushed a bright red colour as she diverted her eyes to the floor. Seeing that she was on the verge of tears, Betsy quickly interrupted. "Uh, anyone else care to introduce themselves?" She looked specifically at the girl leaning against the wall but she seemed to not notice.

"This is corny." The girl with the baseball hat groaned. "But yeah, I'm Sally Blevins aka Skids." She tilted the baseball cap up slightly so her vivid green eyes could be seen. Most probably a mutant side effect, Betsy noted. "I can make force fields." She said simply, pulling the hat back down so it concealed her eyes again.

"Before you ask me to introduce myself I'm Sarah Rushman. I don't take orders from no one and if you get in my way, I'll sever you with this." Sarah growled, popping a row of bones out from both her arms. "Marrows the name with the battle deal." She smirked wider as she noticed Ali visibly jump and glance nervously at Betsy for some sort of reassurance.

Before Betsy could answer, she stepped back in shock as Sally suddenly shot up. "Come on, I thought we were meant to be doing stuff, you know? Not sitting around playing tea parties!"

"Please, be patient Sally we need to get to know each other first before we can trust each other in the battle field." Betsy recited, frowning.

Tearing her hat off again and ruffling her hair slightly, Sally rolled her eyes. "I thought we were all, mutant power! Yeah!" She thrust a fist in the air, leaping onto the couch Ali was nestled in and accidentally tipping it over backwards. "Whoops."

"What are you, some kind of psycho?" Ali squealed, quickly leaping to her feet and backing away from her. "Just stay away from me, you... freaky eyed... person!"

"Hey, your one to talk. How the hell is she meant to be some sort of 'warrior'?" Sarah snarled, indicating at Ali with a hand.

"What, are you the resident bad ass or something? Just because you can pop bones through ya hide don't make that great a 'warrior' as you think. Actually, they've both got crappy powers how are they meant to be any help?" Sally yelled back across the room, whirling back around to face Betsy for answers, her mood changing rapidly.

"You think this isn't dangerous? Grow a backbone, pip squeak. Hear, I've got plenty." Shooting a sharp bone from her wrist across the room, it smashed into some barrier.

"HA! Takes more then that to get to me!" Sally yelled back triumphantly having raised a quick force field.

"STOP IT BOTH OF YOU!" Ali screamed, putting her fingers to her temple. A blast of light filled the room.

"WHOA WHO TURNT... ON THE LIGHTS!"

"GET RID OF THAT LIGHT BEFORE I TEAR YOU APART, DITZ!"

"NO! YOU BOTH CALM DOWN AND I'LL LET YOU SEE AGAIN."

"THAT'S IT YOUR GOING DOWN!"

Two thumps and a scream could be heard before the light faded revealing Ali being pinned to the wall by two pointed bone shards, her eyes screwed tight. "DON'T HURT ME!"

"My, aren't we a chicken." Scoffed Sally, dropping to the floor in a fit of laughter.

"Stop laughing at me! Get me down!" Demanded Ali, squirming uselessly against the two bones.

"Gladly." Said Sarah strolling up and pulling the bones out from the wall, sending chunks of plaster over the floor.

Landing in a heap on the floor, Ali slowly got up, dusting herself off. "Now look what you did."

"Busted." Whistled Sally from where she was sprawled on the floor.

"Shuddup." Sarah said, shooting another bone half heartedly at Ali. "I don't care if I break stuff. Rich lady will just replace it anyhow."

Ducking Ali watched it go smash into an expensive looking antique vase behind her. "Oh yeah? Bet ya can't do this. "With that, she blasted a beam of light across the room hitting a framed painting. Shards of glass littering the floor, the painting crumpled into a burning heap.

"OH MY GOD IT'S ON FIRE!" Yelled Sally, shooting up and on instinct shot her arms forward sending a balled up amount of force field energy at the burning paper. It took care of the small fire but unfortunately it took out the entire wall. "WOW THAT WAS SO COOL!" Sally said, a smile plastered across her face.

"Pssht, armature." Sarah scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Your almost as pathetic as her." She jabbed a thumb at a flustered Ali.

"Fire? FIRE? YOU TOOK OUT AN ENTIRE WALL!" Snapping around, she glared at Sarah and began hurling balls of light at her.

"Oh please, light? I'm so scared!" Mocked Sarah dodging the balls as she began shooting long spears of bones at Ali in retaliation.

Emma Frost knocked rapidly on the door and walked in brusquely. "Well since you girls have had some time to get to know each oth..." Trailing off, she blinked at the scene in front of her.

Betsy was sitting stunned on the couch staring blankly ahead. Sarah and Ali were both throwing random objects at each other and Sally was laughing maniacally about fires and force fields. That's when Emma noticed the missing wall. "It's going to be a long week..." She sighed dropping onto the couch next to Betsy who was beginning to whimper.
