She stood still, just across the hill from me. She was pure white, but all I could see at first were her white ears. I knew what she was right away and I closed my eyes. I didn't want her to have come for me-I wasn't worthy enough to be a Herald. I could never be worthy enough for a Companion.
I knew somehow she wasn't going to leave without me, so I closed my eyes.
Sure enough a few moments later I felt her nose on my cheek. I had no choice. I would become a Herald-or I would have to stand here for ever with her standing
In front of me. Not the best option, all things considered...
I reached out and placed my hands over her eyes, and when I opened my eyes, I uncovered hers.
I heard her in my mind. I knew she would be there, but I didn't really expect all the love and caring in her eyes. No one had ever loved me, no one.

I felt a gentle loving pull, and I instantly fell into the deep pools of love and caring in her blue eyes-her beautiful blue eyes.
Then I knew I was truly worthy, and I could become a Herald, a Lawkeeper of my homeland, my Valdemar.
COMPANIONS POV
He stood still, just across the hill from me. He was wearing all black. All I could see at first was his black boots. I knew that I had found him. I had found my Chosen at last.
I knew he had closed his eyes so I started moving again. I wasn't going to leave him waiting forever, even though he didn't want to be a Herald. I could feel that plainly even from this distance.
Once I reached him I knew that he thought he wasn't worthy enough. I wasn't certain why, but I knew that I would soon, for he would become my Chosen and a Herald, like it or not.
When I nuzzled his cheek he reached up to my face. His hands were covering my eyes but I knew that he would let me Choose him. He was ready, and so was I.
Even though I knew he was going to uncover my eyes I was startled slightly when he finally did.
No one had ever loved him. I sent a wave of love to him and spoke into his mind.

I gave him a gentle pull and I felt him falling into my everlasting love, the love for my other half. I felt my self falling into his black eyes-his beautiful, black eyes.
