An Ode to Legolas and Gimli
A poem expressing in a simple style the friendship between Legolas and Gimli.
by Daughter of Elessar

One was short;
The other tall.
One was as a tree fort;
The other dwelt in mountain halls.
One, the dwarf, he had a beard;
The the elf thought he was kinda weird.
Both set out upon a quest:
Destroy the One and be at rest.
They rode upon a trusty steed,
The name of Arod he did bear,
Through a time of greatest need
With hope they would not be ensnared.
Where they had set out to travel
Drew daily ever near.
As the quest began to unravel
Greater grew their fear.
When their journey ended
The elf set out to leave the world.
"With you will I travel, my friend,"
Said the dwarf with truest loyalty.
So they sailed beyond the sea
In a ship made by immortality.
They rode across the silver tide
For hither shores to ever abide.
