Mulder's Fear

Rating: PG

Author Note: Just something silly induced by a combination of Weird Al and the X-files album. This really isn't my best writing stuff, so please don't judge all stuff written by me until you've at least checked out some of it (shameless plug, I know.)

Disclaimer: I own nothing in this story (except maybe the plot). The important people own everything.

"Scully?" Mulder's voice squeaked slightly. I thought my voice stopped cracking after puberty, his mind nagged him. He ignored the little voice telling him that there was really nothing frightening, his instincts overriding his common sense.

Scully popped her face through the door to the basement office. An extremely odd sight met her eyes. Mulder was perched nervously on top of her desk looking fearfully at the floor.

"I think it escaped from the file cabinet with the Reticulen information in it," he said, his eyes not leaving the spot on the floor where he had first seen the terrifying creature. Just then some papers in the trash can rustled, provoking another whimper from Mulder.

Scully tried to choke back a laugh, failing miserably. She had caught a glimpse of the object of Mulder's fear, and it appeared to be small and gray. Pretending that she hadn't seen anything, she assumed a serious face and attempted to look for the feared animal. Finally her eye settled on the trash can. Carefully approaching it, she poked it experimentally. The animal inside squeaked, sounding oddly similar to Mulder's earlier whine.

As she calmly flipped the trash can upside down, she rolled her eyes at Mulder. "Honestly, Mulder," she said, trying to sound exasperated but failing miserably. "You're afraid of mice?"

Mulder winced. He would never be able to live this down.

So what did you think? Please review, even if you're only going to tell me that it stinks. Thanks!
