"Because I need a place to crash, Eyeballs," he said calmly, while sitting down at one of the chairs at the kitchen table.
"You are NOT crashing here!!" I was...shocked and furious, to say the least. "Not in MY house," I added.
"Why would you care?!" he yelled back. Okay, he was really angry now. "You mom's not here, right?! Where else do you want me to go?!"
"I don't know! How 'bout Tala's?! Or Johnny's?! Or Rei's even?!"
"I can't," he suddenly sounded depressed. "They don't need to know. They wouldn't care..."
"What do you mean they wouldn't care? They're your friends."
"That doesn't matter. Look. I need a place to stay. So am I staying or am I staying?"
"Fine! But won't Rei notice you're here?!" I shouted. How stupid chould a guy get?
"I plan to stay in a lot."
"And your car? I guess it's gonna stay in a lot, too?"
"It's an old one. Rei probably doesn't remember it. Besides, you'll drive it."

"Long enough." He put one hand on each of the arms of the office-like chair. His face was two inches from mine. In fact, I could feel the heat of his breathe against my lips. "I don't like it when you call me Hiwatari, Eyes. Call me by my first name." His voice was dipping with anger. But with that he stood straight up again.
I smiled. "Okay, Kaiki."
"Whatever, Eyeballs."
